Feels Like A Million Bucks

I recorded this several weeks ago on the old computer that fried. To the best of my memory, the plug-ins I used were:

1. Echo/delay

2. Slight amount of tremolo on organ and almost undetectable amount on the lead guitar

3. Cross-tracking - a small amount - just enough to be noticeable

4.. A plug-in which I cannot remember the name of, downloaded from an Internet site months ago that I also can't remember, that allowed me to split the mono lead guitar into individual and identical right and left tracks. I then was able to work with them individually. I kept the original lead track and centered it in the mix with just the echo/day plug-in.

The genesis of the title was how I felt after the lengthy and tedious work of getting the lead tracks how I wanted them.

Everything else:

Song Summary – Feels Like A Million Bucks

File:Feels Like A Million Bucks.SGU

Key=D , Tempo 100, Length (m:s)=2:52

I toned down the stick on the hi-hat and ride cymbals, hoping to make it less intrusive.

Hope you like it. Thanks in advance,

Alan

Sounds great Alan - nice smooth playing and sound + good mix, got the feeling you were about to switch to the odd Robben Ford style run here & there??
What did you play the guitar through, a real amp or virtual?
Cheers, Carl

Alan, nice jazzy composition. You really squeezed a lot of life into the lead guitar: This is one of the best soloist tracks I've heard. You SHOULD feel like a million bucks. Heck, maybe TWO. Ha! Super listen, as always. Glad you were able to save it!

Alan,

This is excellent! Love the muscular lead guitar against the laid-back arrangement. What a great contrast.

The mix on this piece is also excellent - it sounds "live". Not easy to do.

Love it!

Cool and Jazzy Alan!
Isn't it ironic how we come up with something positive like this title and then the bottom drops out (fried computer).
Nevertheless, so happy to see you pick up the pieces and keep on going!
This is a great feel-good track that I enjoyed!
Take care, TB

Alan,

Damn Good Music.
Getting a lead that good all the way through had to have been a Lot of Work. Well Worth the Effort.

Beautiful.

Alan. sorry but I can't keep up anymore, it's become industrial production and I'm starting to believe that you have an army of elves working for you. Finally a good fairy has come to look at the cradle of your song again. the guitar: a treat.

Alan, only an accomplished guitar player would have been able to comp such a fine sounding lead track. There are some quirky changes but they always resolve. You are a master of the genre. Good one, Tom

Alan, I hope you have a million buck because you played the frets of that axe!
Outstanding guitar chops.
Great backing tracks.
You best to date IMHO.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for all those very nice comments. I've been a Robben Ford fan for quite some time, but I didn't have him in mind as I put this together. But I can see where I could have gone in that direction. He has a distinctive style.

I didn't play anything - it's all BIAB with me twisting a few "knobs and dials".

I made a very good living playing guitar for about 50 years. But 8 or 10 years ago I started showing symptoms of a disease called Focal Dystonia - pianists and guitarists are more subject to it than most other musicians. briefly, it causes my fingers to suddenly experience tremendous pain, then they get stiff, following a minute or two with a strong inclination to bend inward and stubbornly resist straightening for another 10 minutes or so.

But I had my 15 minutes in the spotlight and made a decent living doing it for a long time, so no complaints.

Many thanks for the visit and kindness.

Alan

Hello B.D.

Well, that's not me playing. It's all BIAB. I just nudged it a little bit. I appreciate your very nice words!

Good Evening, Torrey,

Yeah, irony is a quirky creature! I had saved everything regarding this song just 2 days before my old puter said, "I'm done! I'm outta here.".

Thank you for those encouraging words. I appreciate them.

Take care,

Alan

Hi Floyd,

It's always a bit special when you drop in for a visit and leave a word or two.

Thank you very much for that. All total, I spent about 5 hours on this project. Everything went smoothly - didn't have to do very many "retakes". It all just fell into place.

Thanks again. Take care,

Alan
