May I introduce: Goldmania Bella - A One-Man Girlband with no fans

[Linked Image from goldmania-bella.com]

The usual information that nobody asked for:

Why?
Well, after listening to my first EP, a good friend (who has a lot more experience with this stuff than I do)
said: "Good music, now you have to promote it to get it to the people".

He also said that he makes about a beer a day with his music on Spotify, and I thought that was pretty cool
ignoring the fact that I don't drink beer at all.
I'm one of those snobbish wine drinkers...

Anyway, I successfully ignored his advice, and to this day I have exactly one follower on Spotify,
and that's me.
That's
  • a) pretty embarrassing, because everyone will rightly assume that it's just me.
  • b) unsatisfying because every time I get a notification that the band has released a new song,
I have this déjà vu feeling that I've heard this song before

Promotion via a tour with the band is also out of the question because the girls refuse to leave my computer
for whatever reason, probably stage fright.

Goldmania Bella?
The name "B.D.Thomas" for a band with (mostly) female singers sounds, ahem, a bit unfeminine.
I like the word "Bella", mainly because of the way it sounds.
And it means (female) "beauty" in many languages.
I like that.

Well, much like domain names, good band names are preemptively claimed by institutions that never do
anything with them, just so they can sell them in case there is demand.
And everything that has to do with "Bella" is pretty much covered by them.
I should write a song about these idiots!

But they can't claim species names. There's a rare hummingbird somewhere down in Panama or something called Goldmania Bella.
Gold, Mania, Bella ... 3 nouns that I like smile
Here we go...
And I have a cool logo for free!

The album?
Not much news for you here, as all but one song have already been posted here, but I thought the first place to
mention the album should be where I got such valuable help writing the songs.
Without the encouraging and critical feedback I get here, I probably wouldn't release my music at all.
You guys'n'girls rule!
And before you ask: No, unlike most of you, I don't get much support from my family: my wife only listens to R&B and Latin music, my son listens to that kind of techno music that sounds like a car assembly belt somewhere near Detroit, only louder, my father thinks anything past Bach or Beethoven is crap (I disagree, but he has a point), and the only family member who liked my music because of the vocal harmonies died not too long ago.
I'm alone (insert sobbing sound -> here <-).

What do I expect?
Fame, fortune and a Grammy. And if things go _really_ well, maybe a second follower on Spotify.

Where?
  • Spotify (preferably if you have an account there, because ... well, you know that by now)
  • YouTube (you don't need an account there and you can watch my boring videos while listening to my boring music. Double the pain...)
  • Goldmania Bella Homepage (a small homepage I have created where you can find links to everything else. Not very sophisticated because I hate JavaScript, but gets the job done)

As always, comments and feedback (good and bad) on the album, this campaign, the band name, my embarrassing pleas for attention and anything else you can think of, aside from politics, are very welcome.

To quote Floyd: Write something!

B.D., I'll definitely check this out, and CONGRATULATIONS from me as well. Also...one of the most entertaining posts I've read in a long time. Nice combination of humor and pathos. Those two NEVER get old...

The female vocalist sounds professional to my ears. The song structures and production also sound professional as well.

Did you use BIAB on any of the backing tracks?

Great songs and lyrics all around either way

It's a worthy compilation, B.D.
I hope you get more out of Spotify than a beer.

Yeah, I might write songs about whiskey, but I'm with ya on the wine snobbery. But a bottle of wine is a lofty goal. Keep at it, man. I released my 9th BiaB-fueled album on Leap Day, and I already have like 11 followers (over 3 years) --course 6 of them are me.
I am proud to be you second follower. I'll be busy for the next 38min and 20 sec.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thank you Trax for listening and your feedback.
I usually play all synthesizers, the piano if I can't find a proper RealTrack, and a guitar here and there, but I guess give or take 90% of what you hear are BIAB RealTracks.
BIAB is the second best audio software I have ever used.
Simply amazing.
BIG kudos to PG-music.

Hi B.D.

I just listened to most of the songs I'd not yet heard on the forum. Nicely done!

I particularly liked "At Home" and "Increasing Insanity". I think the production on those is extra special. They're all great, but those two stood out to me.

Good luck with the album!

I'm not much of a beer drinker and don't like wine at all. A straight shot of bourbon with a Coke back from time to time works for me.

Again, best of luck to you - your music deserves to be heard.

Alan

Congrats on the album! I don't envy you having to promote your work as I've been down that rabbit hole with books, plus as there are so many producing their own music today - literally millions - you have to post on as many sites as possible, which is time-consuming hard work, and even then you can't expect serious returns. I'm too old now to be bothered, but I'm leaving all of my intellectual property to a charity as having a captive audience they can make more sales than I ever could.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

BDT, I am a fan of all your productions. Good luck with the project. It’s tough to make any money these days unless you play live but don’t let that stop you from being creative. Ignore the naysayers who bring the negativity and keep to your own road. You are touching lives and making a difference. Your post had me laughing out loud. So thanks for that we all need that, Tom

Man, I didn't know that you have 9 albums already.
I have to listen to them!
You always upload to Soundcloud or YouTube, so it never occurred to me that you guys were on Spotify.
Found you, Blue Attitude and Chris already!

Thank you Wao for your encouraging words.
Much appreciated.

I certainly won't spend a lot of time and energy on advertising, but not advertising at all seems to me to be the wrong way to be heard at least a little.
But like you said, there are millions (the latest figures from 2023 talk about 120000 new songs per day on Spotify) to compete with, and even if there is a LOT of AI-generated crap out there these days, there are still too many to get heard.

Hey B.D., Congratulations on the album. Our music is different, but I sure love your productions. I've listened to almost everyone of the songs on your album so far, and you've got a great sound. I wish you the best on it.
