I'm trying to add some fills in a song. I have been trying to enter them on the Audio channel in BIAB, but when I play the song back, the fills show two bars early. Example: recorded to bar 19, plays back on bar 17. I know it must be a setting, but I'm unable to solve this one. I know I could do it better in a DAW or even maybe Real Band, but I prefer to do it within BIAB for simplicity sake.

If you can't do it in BIAB but could in RB then staying in BIAB isn't simple! BIAB has so many bolt-ons to give it DAW like properties that it's not always easy to spot the right way to do things. That's why I always move to RB as soon as possible. As far as I know I don't lose any of the functionality of BIAB but RB is so much more 'tranparent'.

I also thought it might be a setting having to do with the two bar offset. I had not used the feature for a while so I tested this morning to see if anything had changed with updates and creating fills is working correctly on my system.

I suggest to open another session of BIAB and see if the issue carries over and if so, I would do a Return to Factory Settings in Options.

Having an issue with settings doesn't complicate audio recording in BIAB and is no different than adjusting latency or setting up an audio interface in a DAW.

Everyone that moves to RB, the DAW Plug-in or any DAW loses a lot of functionality of BIAB.

sorry Charlie, I know you are a cheerleader for BIAB and can make it do anything you want but my hope is that more people try RB and it may help them as I find it easier to use than BIAB where i have to dig around for functionality that is easy to see in RB.

I don't think I lose any functionality that affects my music making. (Bigest problemthere is lack of talent!) In RB all tracks really are equal and I can select a track and generate a new RT, a new Miid Supertrack, import a midi track from another style, regenerate part of a track, add and edit a solo from multiriffs, change key, change tempo (within reason) and record on as many tracks as I want. I can mix on a graphic representation of a real life mixer board, route tracks to subgroups and control them with one slider, use one instance of a plugin and reroute several tracks through the same buss minimising cpu load - all on tracks I can see in front of me.

BIAB is amazing but so is RB and my fear is that like the OP, many new users are not trying RB. However, I'm sure everyone appreciates your espertise and the help you give on BIAB that maximises the benefit it provides to new users exploring it for the first time.

That's a good goal Bob, but in this thread the OP is familiar with RealBand and aware that it's available for use and will record audio. However, although not a deal breaker to offer RealBand as an option, the OP said he prefers to record in BIAB and thus posted in BIAB for Windows Forum.

I'm also a proponent of RealBand, use it when it's beneficial to do so and support your attempt to recommend it whenever such opportunity arises. While RealBand is functional for your recording needs, there is quite a few functions that don't carry over from BIAB to RealBand or the DAW Plug-in.

You mentioned a lot of features and functions that are easy in RealBand but didn't explain how you accomplish a single advanced feature task of BIAB that is unavailable in RealBand, the DAW Plug-in or any DAW. That's a great topic for another thread in the future because there's a lot of potential in BIAB for complex arrangements that alleviate much of the manual editing users have to do in RealBand or a DAW that reduces and diminishes the time to complete a project where moving tracks to RealBand or a DAW is done without losing the complexity or quality of the arrangement, number of instruments and tracks.

That said, the focus of this thread is helping answer the original question and resolve the issue in BIAB. This appears to be a technical glitch or setting problem and should be quickly solvable for John F.
