Strange thing but I can't find any obituaries about him. Duane Eddy died April 30. 2024. +++ Wikipedia Article +++

Are you sure he's dead ? I remember a guy who was disabled in bed for a long time, died and they took him to the morgue then while neighbors and friends gathered at his house to pay respect he got up at the morgue and found his way back home while they were still all there.
True story.

Somehow I missed Frank Alves's "Long Live The King Of Twang" May 02 post. My apology to Frank for missing his post. Frank's post has a link to a Guitar World article well worth the time to read.
The Guardian article you linked to is also a good read. It's interesting that the top photo of the Guardian article shows Duane Eddy holding a Guild hollow body electric as the guitar most associated with him is a Gretsch model 6120 hollow body electric.

No worries Jim!
Duane played a Guild for a while in the middle portion of his career before moving back to Gretsch, and even had his own model the DE-500.
At my next gig I'm planning on a large portion being devoted to his music/style. My Dano 56-U3 does a great job of getting me close to that Duane low string "twang".

When I want twang I tune the whole guitar down 2 half steps. Those strings get nice and loose and twangy.
