These virtual instruments like Native Instruments and UJAM that just follow the midi keyboard input or the Biab midi chord track is the same way a Biab Live Arranger could work, it will just be using all the instrument's source files in the chosen style rather than just one virtual instrument source files. We already have all these virtual instruments right there in the RealTracks and Drums folders, I can go and convert them all to a virtual instrument now the same as NI or UJAM as they are just recorded phrases of actual playing, BUT why can't PG just do this so we don't need to keep buying all these VI's ?

Good suggestions.
What’s an example name of an existing VI that you’re referring to? And what’s a typical example of how you use it in your DAW work?

( I assume you’re referring to a VST plugin for the DAW that plays along with your DAW tempo/ time sigs? )

Have Fun!

Hopefully if there is interest, this could mean that things are happening behind the scenes.
Ideally the Live Arranger can work using the BBPlugin/ Plugin Standalone playing the wma directly.
I have shown how the old Biab can work as a live arranger, but it would most likely need more than 255 bars for more material/chords to be pre generated up, then be able to smooth transition to any chord inputted via MIDI Chord Detection.
So, the JUCE Plugin would be the way to go that could then be compiled to iOS Android Lin Win Mac.
So another 6 months wait then to see IF anything eventuates........................

I went into all this with Here's Your Live Arranger
I could do it all right now with Reaper, I just set a certain midi chord input to play that chord section of the RealTrack source file, round robin to play the same chord but a different section each time.

There's your $100USD virtual instrument X how many RealTracks you have:

Code
file1 = "E:|\bb\\RealTracks\\Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Strumming Ev 120\\AG1141.wma"

wma_source1 = reaper.PCM_Source_CreateFromFile(file1)

track1 = reaper.CF_CreatePreview(wma_source1)

reaper.CF_Preview_SetValue(track1, "D_VOLUME", 1)

reaper.CF_Preview_SetValue(track1, "D_POSITION", 4)

reaper.CF_Preview_SetValue(track1, "D_PITCH", 2)

reaper.CF_Preview_SetValue(track1, "D_PLAYRATE", 1)

reaper.CF_Preview_SetValue(track1, "B_PPITCH", 1)

reaper.CF_Preview_Play(track1)

retval, current_pos  = reaper.CF_Preview_GetValue(track1, "D_POSITION")

This is where you also need to record on the same guitar, same levels but different patterns/styles so it will match tone when changing to another pattern during a song, if they are Direct Input, you can use the same FX on them.

Now the UJAM Plugins are a self-contained code not needing a bridging app running in the background ?
They just play prerecorded chord, bass or drum sections from the source files ?

If so why on earth is the BBPlugin not doing the same thing ?

I paid for these UJAM Plugins and they all just work without issue or bugs.

Anyone had any problems with them ?

No problems here.

I like the fact that the GUI is identical for all instruments and identical for all drums, i.e. you learn one and you have learned them all. Plus you can play them without even looking at the docs!

This is what I use more and more frequently for quick arrangements. I had a few titles and I recently bought the full collection (UJAM made a good discount on the grounds that I already had some titles, and they made quite an offer for the full bundle). I like the sound quality and I like that I can use the VSTs as arrangers OR as normal VST instruments that can be played note by note. If you love a MIDI drum roll or guitar riff but you want a small modification, you drag and drop the MIDI clip on your DAW track and you play the same arrangement as individual notes. Then you can edit the individual note you don't like (and at this moment the drum roll or the guitar riff is yours). The same VST can work as arranger or as a normal MIDI instrument.

There are many VSTs, but the way to use them is very similar. 7 drummers + 12 "beatmakers" (similar, but more "drumbox oriented"), 6 "finishers" (creative FXs, not instruments), 3 symphonic instruments (~ ostinato machines), 1 synth with 9 expansion packs, 5 Bassists, 6 guitar players and 3 pianists. One of the "guitarrist" have been free at times (Carbon?). So you can buy second hand for almost nothing. It's a heavy-metal oriented baritone guitar. I recommend to try it.

It does not substitute BiaB, it is a different way to get to similar results.
