Matt:
"Could we start over, in the correct forum where it will be noticed better (BIAB for Windows Product Forum)? Post a snippet of music, and/or a music notation, give the genre and feel and tempo and instruments, and ask how to do it in BIAB.
EDIT: Ha. Not surprisingly, Trevor just asked the same thing."I have a lot of things to talk about here but will try to be concise.
- First off, I agree that my Micro Chord thread ended up in the 'wrong place', but rest assured it was not me who moved it to the BIAB Wishlist forum!
- As far as posting a snippet of music (illustrating the problem etc.) I have already done this!
I posted a link on June 14 to a demo I created. I took a recording of the triplet feel I am going after in BIAB,
and copied it three (3) times in a row to make sure everyone could get it locked in their heads.
Then right after that, in the same recording, I added BIAB's attempt to play the micro chords. Again I copied it three (3) times in a row just to be safe.
Original vs. BIAB - The style I am using in BIAB is _JAZVIBE.STY (which as you might have guessed is a Jazz style).
It's a Swing 8ths style in 4/4. Tempo is 85.
There are only three instruments: Vibes, Bass, Drums (all RealTracks).
I only discovered Micro Chords on June 6, 2024, less than two weeks ago.
I made some assumptions (perhaps naively).
Before I even knew there was a Micro Chord dialogue box, I added these chords to the first two beats of my desired micro chord bar:
(E9,F9)(E9,F9) because I learned on June 6 that this is how you enter chords into your bar.
Since the song/style was a Jazz song/style, I expected the chords to be played back in a Jazz swing feel.
Jazzers know this feel very well. We call them 'swing 8ths'.
I have since learned about the 'Micro Chord dialogue box'.
A better name for it should perhaps be 'Pandora's Box', because, besides being very confusing with its terminology, there are literally over 100 different ways to play back the chords (E9,F9)(E9,F9).
I have messed around with the 'Micro Chord dialogue box'.many times, including just now.
I have come very close to getting the 'swing 8ths' feel but there was always some other problem that surfaced.
Most of the time the problem was the chords being played back were not (E9,F9)(E9,F9).
BIAB loves to substitute these chords (E9,E9)(F9,F9), or variations of that.
To summarize.
I would like BIAB to play back this chord sequence (E9,F9)(E9,F9) on beats one and two of a bar,
in Jazz 'swing eighths'. Sounds simple enough.
