Hello,
I would like to control BIAB with a Midi footswitch ((like midi captain) , to start recording certain tracks, change tracks... in order to use BIAB a bit like a looper controlled by midi events.
Is it possible ? How ? If not, is this planned? For me, It would be a real added value.
Thank you for your attention

I'd been waiting to see if someone offered a way.
Another option might be a page-turner footswitch. There usually send computer keycodes like space, return. up/down cursor and so on.
People regularly ask for control-surface integration, but I believe there's little or none at present.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11 BIAB2026 Audiophile, a bunch of other software. Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts .

What do you want to do? BIAB is - in my opinion anyway - a program for creating songs and all its functionality can be controlled by keyboard and mouse. A looper is a device most people use for playing live - again in my opinion. BIAB is not really designed to do that although some people use it for playing tracks live. Can you give a better idea of what you want to do and maybe help will be more forthcoming.

BIAB is really not a program made for recording songs. It's a keyboard and mouse controlled app.
If you want to make songs and use a foot controller to help you make them, it sounds like what you really want is a looper app.
BIAB is not a looper really at all.
BIAB is a band.... made up of instruments.
I use BIAB as a practice buddy for guitar woodshedding and as a songwriting tool. I click with my mouse and select a style. I enter some chords. I can't see how a foot controller could ever be made to do that. But I would love it if BIAB grew at least enough midi controllable features to let me start and stop playback with a foot control. But really, for that purpose the space bar is good enough.
The best midi controller I have for the purpose, one that I use to control BITWIG (a very powerful daw with a built in clip based looper) is the NEKTAR PACER.
In my opinion you should check out bitwig and the pacer if you simply want to make stuff and record your guitars and vocals.
The BIAB DAW PLUGIN could help you use BIAB and a DAW together, I think. That might be what you're looking for more or less?
Before control surface integration I'd at least like to see a bit of configurability on the keyboard shortcuts. There are USB HID foot controllers that can be configured to any keyboard shortcuts you like, but it would be nice to have some midi remote mapping onto the BIAB control keyboard shortcuts for sure.

... People regularly ask for control-surface integration, but I believe there's little or none at present. Little, actually. The Frontier Design Tranzport from 15 or more years ago is still supported. I annually request support for a Mackie Control Surface to control the mixer like you would on a DAW. I use a Bluetooth page turner with my iPad for reading charts, but I don't think any of these would do what is being requested. A simple foot switch might start and stop the transport, but to arm different tracks etc. you probably want an app that is controlled by an iPad.
BIAB 2026 Win Audiophile. Software: Fender Studio One 8, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Fender Quantom HD8 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Thank you for your answers.
Sometimes we try to cobble together solutions with what we have, rather than reinvesting in new equipment.
Finally I opted for the MSSuperLooper plugin, which I control with the ACT-midi controller plugin from cakewalk.
I will try the proposed solutions on occasion.
Best regards

If all you want to do is start/stop you can throw an old keyboard on the floor and tap the space bar with your foot. The mobile apps for BiaB/RB were on the right track, but got dropped years back. Luckily my RB app still works, last time I checked. But it's been a while. Was real handy when your instrument was a ways from the keyboard/computer. Wish they'd bring that back with more modern features ..
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!
