Firstly, thanks for taking the time to create your video. It was was very helpful. What you show regarding the opening of a MIDI file is correct BIAB behaviour. When "Open" is used, the file is loaded onto the "Melody" track as a multitrack MIDI file. Because you have BIAB set so that tracks are named after the instruments that are loaded on them, it's not easy to see that the "VoiceOoohs" track is the Melody track. Once you have loaded the MIDI file, have a look under "Melody" on the upper menu and you will see that the "track type" is set to "Multi(16)-channel".
Using "open" in BIAB will load a file into BIAB as if it is a new project. As your video shows, using "import" will bring the file into a song that is already loaded in BIAB.
Also, notice how there is an "X" on the left-hand side of ZZJAZZ.STY (beneath the title "Cherish". This X is saying that the style has been disabled for this song so that if you click 'Generate and Play', you will not hear a backing created. The style can be enabled by clicking on the X.
Regarding the tempo...
Whenever you use a MIDI file from a third party, you are reliant on the creator of the file and that she or he has set everything correctly when the file was created. Sometimes things like tempo are not set correctly. This would seem to be the case with your MIDI file. I don't know if you noticed it but when the file plays after you have opened it (0:47 on the video), as the file plays, the cursor that moves across the chordsheet is not in time with the playback. This is usually a sign that the MIDI has issues from a BIAB perspective.
I notice that your tempo setting in BIAB stays at 120. Have you tried this to see if it affects the tempo of your song?
What is the reason that you want to open a MIDI file in BIAB rather than a DAW? DAWs are often friendlier to use when it comes to working with MIDI.
You have certainly jumped into the deep end of the pool. I suggest you view some of Henry Clarks videos on how to work with midi in BIAB. Google his youtube page.
Quick point: The BIAB legacy instrument tracks are all muted because you have and X in front of the style "X ZZJazz.sty". R-click on the Style name and remove the X by selecting "enable style" and you will hear the BIAB style tracks playing you midi chords.

Thank You for this suggestion. It was exactly on of Henry Clarke's videos that I wanted to try out. And I get the problem in doing so. This is the video:
Rockbandguy, try this: 1-open special - open MIDI file 2-play a section of the song 3-go to Audio and uncheck unrender song from audio track 4-click regenerate and you should have both the original MIDI file playing as well as the BiaB backing track. 5- you can change the BiaB style to fit your needs.
This worked here. Note that I have the latest version of BiaB.
{edit} - you can even change the tempo with no problem.

OK, a random thought; Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?
