Dazy Days on Soundcloud
Dazy Days on YouTube

Another twist on the dog days of summer. A dazy day is a lazy day with no thinking --just drinkin'. And maybe puttin' a line in the water to make it look like yer doin' somethin'.

Style is _SUNDAZE.STY (Sun Daze Acoustic 12-8 Blues), although the only part I kept was the one acoustic guitar.

I played bass and sang.

Dazy Days

Today's gonna be a lazy day fishin' in the brook.
I'm gonna lay agin that old oak tree and watch my fishin' hook.
The clouds roll by, the Sun is high and Nature's music plays.
The fish won't even swim these dazy days.

As time flys by I realize this is what life needs.
So I'll lay my back on this old oak tree and live with the weeds.
My bobbin floats, there are no boats and Nature's music plays.
The fish won't even swim these dazy days.

Just drinkin' moonshine and drawing on my pipe
Relaxin' like a woodpile like m' doc p'escribed.

The day turns to dusk and bullfrogs start croakin' for a mate.
Time to reel in line, bid my fish farewell and go. It's gettin' late.
When nighttime falls my bedroll calls.
I watch the new moon phase.
The crickets say goodnight on dazy days.
I hope tomorrow brings more dazy days.

LOVE your vocal!
Perfect track choices. Lazy & Rhythmic.
The harmonica is true Icing On The Cake.
Terrific mix. A terrific listen.

Big rockin' chair. Big hat pulled low. I'm gonna take a quick nap now...
Yeah, leave that radio right there...

Marty,

Love this... The laid back grove and awesome vocal really bring this song to life.

The instrumentation is great and I really like how you used the harmonicas - excellent! The mix is perfect.

A new favorite for me alongside of your many excellent songs.

Ha! Marty, your songs overflow with joy, and it's infectious. Great topic/lyrics, super vocals (cool little yodel and other misc inflections) and sparkly mix. Just a perfect little song, expertly delivered. Another great one...you make this look too easy!

Another good one man.
Brings back memories as a kid fishin' on those dazy days of Summer when it didn't matter if you caught anything or not.

Great lyrics; especially
Relaxin' like a woodpile like m' doc p'escribed.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Marty...again a different feel and genre....very cool and laid back...this has a "Huck Finn" feel throughout...love the lazy swing...it reminds me of watching my dad relax after a hard workday on the old hammock he built out of an old wooden barrel...nice vocal and verbiage...a perfect fit for this relaxing tune...the harmonica is killer and apropos...a "lazy mans" instrument for sure...another variation of "Mr. Versatile"(aka: Marty Straub)!

Marty, you've written my theme song! Or at least what I'd love my theme song to be. Sure like this stuff man. That harmonica reminds me of those old laid back Hee Haw tunes!

For me personally, fishing is as interesting as watching paint dry, but apart from that I really enjoyed your song.
Your voice has a nice deep character that fits the song very well.
Good mix and a perfect choice of instruments.
Well done, my friend...

Cool song. This is similar in sentiment to that old marshall Tucker song Bob away my blues from the searching for a rainbow album.

Loved your voice on that. Perfect grit for the song

Haha! Glad you picked up on the emphasis of the zzzzzs there, floyd. Yeah, only the one guitar with Brent is from the Style. The other guys had to be replaced by the more lazy fellas. Really, thanks so much, floyd.

Thanks, Bob. Yeah, like I did in that one song with Janice (See you down the road), I needed a slightly different harmonica for the solo. BiaB to the rescue.

Thanks, Ron. I think I redid the vocal like 9 times, trying to get the right amount of country yodel like a teenager whose voice is cracking. It should probably be redone again, but I'll always think that. I post so I can stop mixing.

Thanks, Steve. My fishin' friends usually didn't invite me cuz I preferred skipping rocks. Thanks for the nod to the country doctor. My daughter went to a new doctor once, and he prescribed ballroom dancing --even wrote it on a preseciption pad. She knew right away that he was a keeper.

A great accompaniment to nature's music. My sister Daisy would love it! As ever a very original song from you and can't fault the production in any way. That your material is always accompanied by great videos is a plus as they don't distract from the music as mine often do

Thanks, Brain. Yeah, I would've been with you on fishing trips. I'd rather climb trees, and my friends would remind me the fish could see me and were scared. So I skipped rocks --that made the fishermen scared. So I'd go for a walk in the woods. The rocks and trees liked me because they saw me as a guy who saves fish. hehe

SMILE! Thanks so much for putting such a big one on my face, Greg. It seems that writing a song (now that I have to be the one to sing them) involves creating the right actor to play the lead role.

Marshall Tucker? Listened to them a lot and I'm sure some of it sunk in to those places where we don't no where the creativity comes from. I was hoping you'd like this one. Thanks, Herb,

Thanks, Chay. Tell your sister I said Hey --- or is it Hay? Your music far exceeds the need for a video, but since 70+% of our sensory receptors are for vision, we make videos. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS, man. If folks knew what it takes to make them like you do, they would SEE with their mirror neurons just how amazing they are.

Thanks, Andi. Man, if I gave you a list of the humans that could sing this better... well, there's not enough paper and ink for that.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.

The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
