Hi all, None of my real tracks are showing up in tracks view or audio edit view. I can hear audio but was trying to follow a biab video on volume automation but cant get any wav forms to show up. Yes, I'm using audio track and not midi. Before when I would click on tracks view I could see both audio and midi tracks. I feel like there's something wrong with my install because strange this keep happening. I'm using biab 2024 1113, windows 10.
I'd try the "Return to factory settings". This is found under the Options menu. I'd first try the "MOST" option and if that didn't work, I'd try the "ALL" option. The difference between the two is that MOST will keep your present audio and midi set up in place while the ALL option will reset the audio and midi set up.
Under the Options menu, there is also a selection to save your current setup. I would do this prior to resetting.
The Return To Factory Settings is the best place to start.
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
When this happened to me I got on the PGMusic "Live Help" (link in a gold box at the top of this page). They had me change a few Windows settings and I was right back in action.

Do you recall what the changes were?

I didn't when I posted, but just found the transcript:
"Please close Band-in-a-Box (or other PG Music program that you were running).
Right click on the Windows Start menu and choose Run, then enter "control [a url="mmsys.cpl"]mmsys.cpl[/a] sounds" and press OK. This will open up the Windows Sound control panel.
Under the Playback tab, choose your default audio device (with the Green checkmark), then click on Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and choose 16-bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality) and click OK. If there is only the option of 24-bit 44100 Hz (Studio Quality), choose that instead. While we're here, uncheck the option to "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".
Next, do the same on the Recording tab with the device that has the Green checkmark. Click Properties, go to the Advanced tab, and choose 16-bit 44100 Hz (CD Quality) and click OK. If there is only the option of 24-bit 44100 Hz (Studio Quality), choose that instead. While we're here, uncheck the option to "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".
Once that is done, click OK on the Sound window, then go back to your PG Music program and make sure it is working."

Thanks DC Ron. That is quite valuable information.
The suggestion is that the sound settings on the computer need to be correct for the graphics to display the audio trace.
Thanks for sharing that feedback, as it is extremely useful.
Separately, I wonder if it would be useful if the program reported the mismatch when it cannot generate the audio trace?

To the O/P: Did you change your audio settings recently, or perhaps performed an O/S upgrade. Sometimes, Microsoft updates can change audio settings without us really knowing.

I'd recommend engaging the Live Help chat when you can. Took less than 5 minutes to get my similar problem (see previous posts) diagnosed and corrected. FWIW, I followed the directions I posted EXCEPT I used 24 bits for both Playback and Record and it worked fine. The match between Playback and Recording properties is the key, I think.

This is what will most likely fix the problem. Changing sound card settings will not likely help at all.

Setting the sound card to 16 bit audio is not usually necessary - 44,100hz 24-bit usually works just as well - but in rare cases 16-bit works where 24-bit doesn't. We believe it's down to specific audio cards or drivers.

Correct, as is setting to 44,100hz. Again, in most cases higher sample rates do work, but some sound cards don't play nicely.
