Great job Marty - you're so good at this style of music and songwriting, excellent vocal too!!
Best, Carl Why, thank you, Carl. Your best so far? It's getting hard to tell, with so many brilliant songs of yours, one after the other. The granddaughter soli made me smile Your own voice is in top form, here ... and the song itself is superb, intelligent, and (as many good songs do) hint at meaning whilst letting us figure out the details. I don't know how much work went itnto this, but what I do know is that this kinda thing is never easy to nail, and man, have you nailed it and then some. Well done, Marty ... hats off, so impressed, once more. Wow, James, thanks! All play and no work is my creed. I like the discrepancy between the upbeat music and the dark lyrics, it's a parody that goes deep when you think about it. It's really, really cleverly written, Marty. Say "hi" to Charley for me ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif) Although not hoping for such a gruesome ending, it's nice to know another one bites the dust. Thanks, Brain. We've talked about you before, so she'll appreciate the nod from you. Mad, clever and wholly original. LOVE those vocals! Your are the master of the amazingly absurd. Thanks, Ron, and it's not at all strange that I appreciate your comment. Thanks, fellow craftsman. Marty, what an extremely clever song. It is an appropriate song for 2024! Outstanding vocal and video. Super backing tracks and mix. Loved it
PS - how can you tell when a politician is lying? Their lips are moving! HAHA, thanks, Mario. Even the more discreetly ventriliquest-like display obvious tells.

Can't say it better than already done on YT: This one had me paying attention from the start. Great concept lyrically and the instrumentation and production is first class. It's great musical storytelling - excellent video too - and I also liked Charley's input! Brilliant, Marty. Thanks, Chay. I gotta get her to sing one. I think I know who this is about but I have to admit that most of it goes over my head. I realise that is a clever spoof and a satirical send up of someone, but whom exactly I am unsure ?? The music is excellent and Marty you have one of the best story telling voices I've heard. 98% of politicians give the rest a bad name. Thanks, Izzy, but I have no idea either --just a cartoon version of reality. Here's another stat: The other 2% are local politicians. Great idea and wordplay, Marty. The band sounds good too.
Vic Thanks, Vic. BiaB makes it all sound better. I love a good political protest song. Very well done. I usually just listen to the audio but I went straight to the video.... nicely done.
I've done a few.... if you are curious.... go to my website.... click MY Music and scroll down to #37 Hope & Change and then scroll down to #50 Leave this country alone. Unfortunately they didn't make a difference.
Great song. Brilliant insight. HAHA. Man, sometimes my stupidity (sorry, lack of mental ability --nope, still not PC enough-- mentally challenged) ways make me waste so much time. When I read your message I went straight to Hope And Change, but I was looking for a video. Duh... Finally got to hear them both. Love 'em."Common sense is dying." Well, Tom Paine would say it's now dead and buried. and the grave was desecrated so often they moved it to an undisclosed location.

Hello Marty Great intro 2:04 - so cool !!! The whole song structure is excellent Vocals, band, sound - everything top You did a really great job Marty Andi ;-) Thank you, Andi. Marty,
How could anyone not be drawn in by this one? Great job with the story telling, production, little surprieses of the female vox! It works like a charm, my friend!!
Dewey Thanks, Dewey. Much appreciated. Marty,
Nice. I like this genre and style you have with these clever titles of late (the play on words with people's names, I mean). It is kind of like an aptronym, I believe, or perhaps just a clever play on words. If anyone knows the exact name for this literary device, lay it on me. Anyway, it reminds me of a group from the sixties but I can't remember who.
The Beatles did this kind of thing too but it wasn't them. I am sure it will come to me as soon as I post.
Maybe it was Zappa.
Anyway, great job Mr. Kindheart, I mean, Mr. Wiseman, I mean Mr. Sillybrain, I mean Mr. Smartymarty!!!
😁 Thanks, David. I call it Lennonism, after John Lennon's books, but yes, Zappa is a good one. There was a time last century when Tony Levin and I exchanged wacky band names. https://www.basssick.com/banames.html Man, that's a lot of hats you're putting on me. Sillybrain it is then. Hi, Marty. Clever title, well done and fun listen - especially those little asides. Thanks, David. My favorite part was watching Charley get into character and try several different ways to say those lines.

Sad and strange story dressed to a refreshing western mood. Enjoyed the catchy melody and how the vocals excel in performing it. Great arrangement, the banjo, the fiddle, the solo - all very effective. And clever video, the AI image generator's inability to create proper words fits the lie theme funnily Janne

Sounds like you and Charley had fun making music together! The banjo was a nice notion and an additional reminder of “Little Liza Jane.” As always, the vocals (nice harmony intro) and bass are most excellent. Nice tidy solo bit too! ... sits very well in. The lyric is creative and witty indeed. Love the depiction in video of the “powers that be.” Nice mix with all those acoustics having their place. Cool! J&B

This is really great!! You had me from the harmony in the intro. Everything works in this song. The story, the overall feel, the backing tracks, mix, production. I think this one of your best.

Marty, A very clever write. An excellent Band. Good vocals (both ) Solid mix. Fun listening. fj Thanks, floyd. Much appreciated. You understand why I gave her a Y in her name, right? Very cool - sounds great! Thanks much, Heartbreaker. Welcome. Looking forward to hearing more of yours. Sad and strange story dressed to a refreshing western mood. And clever video, the AI image generator's inability to create proper words fits the lie theme funnily Janne Sad, and maybe strangly common these days, but that just might be my cynicism showing. Yeah, if I was into getting subs and comments, I'd create contests with these, asking folks to find the AI's mistakes, which almost always shows up in the words and human appendages. Sounds like you and Charley had fun making music together! The banjo was a nice notion and an additional reminder of “Little Liza Jane.” As always, the vocals (nice harmony intro) and bass are most excellent. Nice tidy solo bit too! ... sits very well in. I really enjoy how you guys listen to all the parts so closely. Even happier when you like what you hear. This is really great!! You had me from the harmony in the intro. Lots of fun here Marty, even if "the bullet right between her eyes" is a bit close to the bone at the moment. Very clever lyrics and, yes, lies by politicians (in your part of the world and mine) are a real problem. Great vocals (lead AND harmonies), great band (good to hear some banjo) and top class production. Video was impressive too. Cheers, Mike

Hi Marty and Charley,
Why you made this song about that woman is still a mystery to me. But Charley was very convincing in it. Well... you too! I gave my impression on YouTube, but with pleasure I do it here too. Very nice song and lets be glad that woman vanished ;-)

Hey Marty,
You know how to spin a phrase! Very creative and funny.
Your music is always so clever and wellk done.
Your vocal is great, and Charley deserves a pat on the back for a great contribution.
Best to you,
Alan

Marty,
As always, your videos are very interesting. It's a very pop song with a lot of country song elements. I think you're a master of this kind of music. There are a lot of interesting expressions in English, like "li'l lies to lilies," but with Google translations, most of them gets lost, and I feel so sorry that the original fun of your lyrics can't be fully appreciated. But it can't be helped, as my English skills are not good enough. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.
Best regards.

Very cool lyric Marty. Awesome vocal and excellent backtrack. Loved you that you added your granddaughter to the song. Really well done... Thanks, Scott. I really wish I filmed Charley rehearsing for her lines. I often say The best stuff never gets recorded. Cheers, Mike Thanks, Mike. I know next to nothing about politics, except that its rarely good for all but the politicians. Glad you liked my attempt at political humor. Marty A fun song really well delivered. Nice melody and a top notch vocal(s) and band.
Peter Thanks, Peter. It saddens me that you didn't go all head-over-heels for my solo. HAHAHA. Hi Marty and Charley,
Why you made this song about that woman is still a mystery to me. But Charley was very convincing in it. Well... you too! I gave my impression on YouTube, but with pleasure I do it here too. Very nice song and lets be glad that woman vanished ;-)
Hans Hi, Hans. Unfortuantely I have no idea what woman you're referring do, and I'm not being facecious. I have little to no knowledge of politicians, just a cynical understanding of the requirements. Charley makes everything better. Now, that is one gal I can talk about all day. Hey Marty,
You know how to spin a phrase! Very creative and funny.
Your music is always so clever and wellk done.
Your vocal is great, and Charley deserves a pat on the back for a great contribution.
Best to you,
Alan Thanks so much, Alan. Charley is thrilled at all of the comments about her. Marty,

Shigeki Adachi Thanks, Shigeki. I wish I was better at translating, but you speak the universal language of music better than most. Yeah, sometimes Google needs to translate feel instead of meaning.

"What? No!" Nice touch, Charley! I think Mike Nesmith was an underrated songwriter. This reminds me a lot of his work. Loved that banjo coming in; that was a moment.
