A co-write with Bill Osofsky.

The tracks are all BIAB circa 2013
I did not want to dig for the backup CD to find them.
Basic stuff - easy to identify and find if anyone cares...
Standard Old Country Heartbreak stuff...

IF YOU'D ASK

i had hardly seen you for a while
lately, seems our paths are crossing more
and i think i've seen a trace
of a smile on your face
almost like it used to be before

these days when we meet it's feeling different
the way it used to feel when things were good
and it seems to me sometimes
you've got something on your mind
you'd really like to ask me if you could

if you'd ask, i'd tell you that i love you
if you'd ask, you'd know i never stopped
if you'd ask about the future
i'd forget about the past
you could have me in a heartbeat, if you'd ask

maybe we could have a cup of coffee
and take the time to try to figure how
if we tried it all again
it won't end the same as then
i believe that we could do it better now, cause

if you'd ask, i'd tell you that i love you
if you'd ask, you'd know i never stopped
if you'd ask about the future
i'd forget about the past
you could have me in a heartbeat, if you'd ask

If you hear something, say something....
(is That the expression?)

Floyd,

Nothing standard about this... It's top-notch country the way it should be written and performed.

Love the write, production, arrangement and your EXCELLENT vocal.

Your music is always a cut above. Outstanding stuff!

A song that many will relate to. Excellent choice of instruments and great arrangement.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi, floyd jane.

Excellent write, arrangement, singing. So much goodness here. For example, the construction of the chorus...

To point out the obvious (since you co-wrote it),
The title gets placed at the start and end of the chorus:

IF YOU'D ASK, i'd tell you that i love you
   ...
you could have me in a heartbeat, IF YOU'D ASK

But that's not enough, as it's used to develop the chorus:

IF YOU'D ASK, i'd tell you that i love you
IF YOU'D ASK you'd know i never stopped
IF YOU'D ASK about the future
   i'd forget about the past
you could have me in a heartbeat, IF YOU'D ASK

It's only rhymed once in the chorus, which gives it weight:

IF YOU'D ASK about the future
   i'd forget ABOUT THE PAST

Of course, none of this means anything if it doesn't pull the heartstrings. And of course, it does. smile

floyd,

This is a wonderful, emotional country song.
The vocals are also great.
2013 was around when RealTracks was starting to be incorporated into BIAB.
Even though there weren't many RealTracks styles available at the time, I think this is a perfect accompaniment to the melody.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

It 's 3:30 in the morning and I can't sleep.(Song lyrics from an old song I wrote so many years ago. Didn't know it would come true... )
Anyway, I hadn't been in the User Showcase for a while and oddly woke up with new songs in the Showcase on my mind.

This is my first stop and It's a show stopper. Great write and performance and I've got my headphones on and the production shines. It's stellar. I really enjoyed this one.
It goes good with my coffee.

Mr. Broken Heart shines again.
No one writes these kinds of songs as heartfelt as you and Bill, and I find it amazing that I never feel like “this is just another one of those songs”, it always sounds fresh and new.
You two are/were a REALLY good team!

Floyd, an incredibly tight, perfect tune. LOVE your vocals and the vocal FX/placement in the mix. The harmonies are very cool, too. Those RTs are sweet and arranged very neatly to serve the song. I could go on, but all the good stuff has been said. And it's perfect.

Hi Floyd,

You and Bill write some of the most true and genuine country - as good as anyone I can think of. Two of the best seasonings on a plate of country goodness.

Usual high quality and the lyrics got me thinking (oh no).

Floyd, I'm blaming you for screwing up this relationship.:)
Why does she have to ask if you love her? Why didn't you just man up and tell her?

The song could have a great twist if the last chorus went:
"You didn't ask, is it too late to say I Love You"

grain of salt comment and I did like the song.

Very pretty arrangement Floyd.

I like the instruments you chose.

This has a very sweet sentimental sound to it and a very nice mix. It kind of has sort of a Dan Fogelberg type flavor to it or at least that's what it reminded me of.

Nice job!

You don't write standard stuff, floyd, unless we're talking about songs that become so popular that every band everywhere MUST have it on thier setlists. In that way this one is quite standard. But compared to other songs of "Old Country Heartbreak stuff," this one is far from the standard fare. That is if you'd ask me.

Yeah, I'd hold your vocal high above the other standards. Your ability to write the best, relatable, pleasent-sounding songs with some terrific accompaniement and mix --well, there aren't any better. Best those others standards could achieve is side-by-side comparisons --and most opinions would be like mine. Ya ain't standard, sir; you're the high mark.

Enjoy whatever happens!

This is my type of song: I like ones about lost love. A very strong melody. It seems to me this one should have been picked up by a publisher.

Hi floyd.

I really, really liked listening to this. Emotional ballads are one of my favourite types of music, whatever the genre. Everything sat comfortably and showcased your vocals perfectly. There is nothing that was out of place to me.

All the very best!
