Forgive me for being a bit of a rabbit, but here's another one:

https://soundcloud.com/divinemetime/fallen-angel

Wasn't happy with the the original style choice, but it led me to strip it way back to just 2 acoustic guitars and a bass which I think works well. It will be interesting to hear thoughts on the mix as when it is this simple, it feels like a new ballgame, so to speak. The new thing for me this time around was using a style change.

Song is saved with bar changes for Styles,Volume Changes,
Style is _CMPFMDF.STY (Campfire, Medium Fingerpicking)
RealTracks in style: ~~365:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 085
RealTracks 362 Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Ev 085
RealTrack 2474 Bass

As always, thanks for listening and for your input.

there is just no way
back down the road
up ahead is blocked
stone upon stone
now there’s no direction
left for you to go
The only way is up, my dear
Got to step into your fear

Let your heart break
Straighten that halo
Get off your knees
Stand humbly
Feel the pain
Let it rain

Now the clothes you’re wearing
soaked to the bone
won't let you turn
from truth you’ve been shone
Realize you’ve fallen
torn your pretty wings
All of the heart songs
You were meant to sing
have given to other voices
All because of your own choices

Let your heart ache
Fallen angel
Get off your knees
Stand humbly
Get ready
Be empty

it’s all illusion
it’s just another lie you believed in

om tat sat

Very nicely done! Cool song, and your vocals are (again) super. Those bare arrangements can be scary, but you pulled it off. Love your harmonies, too. My only suggestion is that the BGVs MIGHT not be panned so severely, since the way I interpret the song they are the inner voice of the narrator and so could be closer to the narrator in the soundscape. Or not. This is all about your vision, and I think you've done a lovely job as is.

This so beautiful! The sparse arrangement fits this so perfectly. I agree with Ron's comments about bringing the BGVs closer to the center for the reason he mentioned. He has a lot of excellent musical insights.

Regardless, this was a gorgeous listen!

Best to you,

Alan

Hi, Beth.

Sounds good! Your vocals are front and center here, as they should be. smile

There's an odd sound at 1:58, but that's a really minor nit.

I enjoyed listening.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

WOW Beth - your song and vocals are so beautiful, full of feeling & emotion!!
Excellent recording/mixing with a beautiful voice up front - a slight audio glitch at 1.55 but a minor nit as David wrote.
Very well done, you have another fan!!

Best, Carl (UK)

Thank you, David, for listening with such care and for pointing out that little nit. I can hear it now; may not be a big thing but I'd certainly prefer it weren't there.

"Fallen Angel} by Tilted Halo. LOVE IT!! Love this song of yours too. Your vocals are so good, and I like the in-and-out harmony with that second and third vocals panned left and right. Had a relisten with headphones, and it's even more engaging. Very cool. Excellent choices on keeping the instrumentation out of the way of vocals. Love it all just the way it is, Beth.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Another excellent deep-themed song, Beth. Great vocals and nice harmonies, plus the instrumentation is well mixed. You've the sort of voice that would do great in a duet with Janice of Janice & Bud.
