Izzy,

Good song and a good vocal. Love the banjo on this - really propels the music.

Hi Izzy,

I never expected to hear a country song from you. And totally different vocals than in you previous songs.
The lyrics are clever written, but in a fun way.
Now everytime I see 'LOL' I know it means Low On Liquor, not something about laughing...

Seriously; a good song, good vocals and good choice of instruments.
I have one 'but'; the sound was somewhat thin until the instrumental section, after which it gained fullness.
Was this on purpose?
But I enjoyed it a lot!
You and country...

Hans

Izzy, really well constructed Honky Tonk song. Love your vocals and the call and response section was quite nice. Well chosen instruments for the genre, and you arranged/mixed them in interesting yet supportive ways. Nice one!

Good song. Well-chosen backing band. Perfect placement of (and distance from) the microphone gave the impression that you were singing from the bottom of an empty glass.

Great bluegrass and I agree with Bob re the banjo. The instrumentation, arrangement and whole mix is really good.

This was a good time. I liked the overall arc/progression/structure. New instruments or expanded parts were added in the right spots for a really pleasing overall effect. Well done!

Good write, and well produced, Izzy. Cool lyrics, and the music you've put together for them are perfect for their delivery. Your vocal carries it all. I like the dynamic stop where the banjo brings it all back. Low On Liquor could mean a lot of things I suppose. Like you gotta go get some more to stock up, or you're now the opposite of high on liquor, or you're acknowledging the fact that you finally hit rock bottom. That makes the song so relatable. Very nice.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The vocal is think as a little distant which gives the impression of an old 78. If you EQ the rest of the band to achieve the same end it'll sound like a cool old shellac.

Cheers

The chorus is real standout. Good work with those harmonies. I agree with Ray. The vocal is a little buried or distant. I enjoyed those lyrics!

Thank you Scott.
I don't consider myself a proper "singer" so tend to naturally try to hide a bit.

Well as two folks who played in bluegrass bands for years ... that was cool!

The title is a creative twist and well sets up the lyric.
Your vocal sits in the genre nicely.

Nothing like a little adventure.

Enjoyed it!

J&B

PS From a bluegrass perspective our only suggestion is a rhythm banjo RT (other than the solo for fills) would've opened the mix up a bit. A big ole FWIW smile
