Hello Out There,

I've been busy doing battle with BIAB and Realband these past weeks. Finally have a new one to share!

https://soundcloud.com/divinemetime/something-to-say

Pretty simple. I'm using Real Piano 2046 Acoustic Solo Accompaniment Country/Pop John Ev120 - two different riffs. The vocals are mine and are treated with dynamics and reverb.

Looking forward to your suggestions for mixing improvements and comments. Thank you!

I've got something to say
And it might not come out quite the right way
But I've got to speak my mind
And say it anyway...say it anyway

Talks not easy for me
So I bottle it up; You never see
But I got to speak my heart
yeah, I gotta start...before i fall apart

Listen, listen
To my silence
Read between the lines
In that quiet
there’s a chance for a
meeting of the minds

Though my voice might shake
And my fear of losing you makes me quake
Still I can’t go on this way
Got something to say...then I'll be on my way

I know you're so important
And my words are just so small for your ears
But I've waited patiently
and I’m gonna break….if I don’t take space

Excuse me if I shout it
though no words pass my lips
Don’t you dare fill this moment with words
and wipe the grace of silence away

Beth,

Beautiful song. Love your vocal with just the piano. Very Carole King...

Excellent!

Very nice.
I like the sparse musical treatment and fragile sound of the vocal which fits the message perfectly.

Great job, Beth! Such a nice song, and your vocals and harmonies are sublime. Good choices on the BiaB pianos, they support the song perfectly. Really nicely produced, and the song rings like a bell...

(FWIW, there are a couple of piano notes at 3:21 and 3:29 that sound out of place to my ears. If that's what you intended then chalk it up to my unsophisticated musical taste. But my experience is the BiaB pianos take a little massaging, especially when way out front like this. As always, ignore what you don't agree with. Love your song either way!)

Beth, this is a super arrangement
Piano and vocal - brilliant
Great vocal

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

Beth...what a gorgeous vocal performance...it is risky to sing with just a single accompaniment instrument but not in this case...your vocals, lead and harmony, were crystal clear and pitch perfect...the Carole King reference that Bob made is spot on in vocal, talent, style and texture...really, really well done!

FYI: I have found that hooking piano phrases together in BiaB and making them sound the way a keyboard guy would play them is one challenging thing to do...great job!

Beth - excellent song & vocals as usual, very well done!
If I have a slight nit it's that the piano is so busy - to my ears it draws attention away from
your great song & vocals? Would love to hear this with simpler sensitive ballad style piano
so the focus is on your voice & lyrics with the piano 'supporting'!
Anyway - just my twopence worth, you did great!!

Ooo, I love the start that reminds me of Joni. Very well written song. Your battle with BiaB has so many winners. "Listen, listen to my silence." Love that. It tells the whole story of this magnificent composition. Love that vocal, Beth --love the whole song. I LIKE the busy piano, but that's JAO (just another opinion).

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thank you so much, Ron. The forum ears are so helpful. When you've listened to something for days over and over you start to miss little things. I'll take a closer look at those notes!

Hi Carl,
I agree with you on that, but when I tried to massage some of the piano, I made a mess of things so I left them. Not sure my package has anything simpler to choose from...but still learning what's available. Thanks for your continued encouraging words!

Joni - Goddess whose albums taught me to sing! I love that you heard her. Thank you for your sweet comments. And thanks for including the meaning of JAO. Otherwise, I would have assumed it was Portugeuese or something.
