For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

The show might require a sign-in. It shows here as 'Video Not Available'.

Yes, that doesn't surprise me.
We viewed it on over-the-air broadcast TV on our local PBS station.
Hopefully you can check you local TV listings and get at it free like we do.

These guys are a 10-piece band with a brass section and is led by (Oh No !) a bass player smile

It's hard for me to put them in a genre bucket because they collaborate with a wide range of artists, but if forced I say a post progressive rock band with jazz leanings. These guys are serious musicians. But in this concert they are collabing with 4 talented female latin singers.

Here's a (recording session?) of one of my favorites.

Snarky Puppy is easily one of my favourite bands of all time, particularly the We Like It Here session and their collaborations with Knower (another fave of mine).

Many of you probably know, but BIAB features some incredible RealDrums from Robert "Sput" Searight, who is one of the drummers associated with Snarky Puppy.

Good info Simon, thanks.

I've been into this band for about 2 years now and they are growing higher up my favorites list; sophisticated stuff for sure.

A side benefit for me is that I'm gaining a deeper appreciation of jazz and in particular, the structure of jazz from listening to this band.

You would enjoy the PBS concert if you can catch it. Michael League, the founder, shares a few interesting stories.

Another band coming onto my radar is Lettuce.

Lettuce is fantastic stuff too!

If you haven't already, I'd also suggest checking out Dirty Loops, Vulfpeck/Fearless Flyers/Cory Wong, and anything to do with Louis Cole (solo material and his band Knower) - all are absolutely top tier in the modern jazz/funk scene. I mean, if Dirty Loops are good enough to play with David Foster and Louis Cole is good enough to play with John Scofield...
