Hi all I need to create an eight bar intro. It's easily done just put eight bars before the tune. However, there comes a problem. I already have a standard repeat covering bars 5 -24, these repeats use two alternatives for the last 2 bars of an eight bar line = you know the type of repeat that is usually indicated by a 1 and a line then a 2 and a line. This works. However when I play back more than one Verse, I find that BIAB goes back to bar 1 which is NOT what I want, I want the second verse to begin after the intro - at bar nine, then follow the other repeats. Google is talking about "generating" intros - I don't want this.
How is this done please?

Z It should be able to be achieved by setting the start bar of the chorus to bar 9, like this: ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=28794&filename=2024-10-14_21-23-57.jpg) When you mention: "you know the type of repeat that is usually indicated by a 1 and a line then a 2 and a line." I think also that you are referring to a Tag Ending. Could that be correct? What version / build of BIAB are you using? There have been improvements in recent years to some of these points.

Thank you audio track, Yes I had this set this way, but it was not working. However, I just solved the issue: with BIAB in focus simply typing in the word "begin" and hitting enter. It's worked. As for the repeats, I don't know the common term, it's not a tag ending I think. It's the very common repeat that I don't know the name of. Imagine a song in AABA form where the first and second A have slightly altered bars 7 and 8. Instead of writing the whole of A twice A1 and A2, it's common to use a bracket which looks like a short vertical line bending to a horizontal line covering the two bars, and a 1 or 2 depending on the ending. The might simply be called "first and second endings".

Excellent. It's great to know that you resolved your issue. Perhaps also consider opening your original post and marking it 'Resolved' (there's a button for that).

About the naming, yes, what you describe is exactly called first and second endings. In notation, the first ending has a repeat sign at the end. You jump back to the first repeat sign that BIAB calls Bar at Beginning of Chorus or something like that - the first number AudioTrack flagged. The second ending has a double bar line at the end but no repeat sign, so you keep playing into the next part of the song.
In BIAB I normally do not try to do this song structure; I duplicate the measures and play one longer song form.
You might also be thinking of a Coda, as in, during the last time through the song, jump to the Coda to play an ending section. I use the Tag function in BIAB for those.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
