Thank you to those who encouraged me to persevere. I'd much rather have had a better voice singing this but, in the end, it's satisfactory.
A VERY quick video with me "starring" as the kitchen based disaster.

BIAB provided the platform to build this & helped me in the DAW thanks to the "plugin" which keeps me on track via the chord sheet.
DRUMS are RockHard^16
ORGAN is 4253
PIANO rhythm is 1798 across the choruses &
PIANO solo via 4481 JazzFast.
I used a PIANO Video Real Track in the flick...not the one used in the audio.
I added bass, guitars & vocals.

Window Cleaning

V1 A whirlwind romance of sorts,
I couldn't believe my luck.
Two rooms up five flights
All we had in a rented truck.

PC1 Part wanderlust part wondering,
Part stupidity & fear.
I'd give you the shirt off my back
But we'd just end up back here

C1 The windows still need cleaning
I can't see through the pane.
I've lost all my deposit
'Cos I can't go back again.

V2 You balked, all I did was talk.
When I talk, I'm not listening
I'm the sort, not caught short,
A full glass at the christening. .

PC2 Part wanderlust part wondering,
Part stupidity & fear.
You'd hide when my mood was black
Kept up a cheap veneer

C2 The windows still need cleaning
I can't see through the pane.
I've lost all my deposit
'Cos I can't go back again.

solo
V3 A quote for each occasion,
I choke when words are real.
You hoped for better days,
My stink the kitchen sink concealed

PC3 Part wanderlust part wondering,
Part stupidity & fear.
My face was blank, I walked the plank
You became the mutineer.

C3 The windows don't need cleaning
But I can't see through the pain.
I've lost all my deposit
'Cos she won't come back again.

Ray, my oh my, this did turn out quite nice indeed. A fab little ditty that crisply pays homage to a very cool musical era while exploring a new space. LOVE how your vocals turned out. Cool video too!

Reminds me of a couple of 1980's bands like Madness etc.
Again I think you should bring up the vocal.

Hi Ray. I thought it came out well. I'd still like to hear your vocal a little more out front. I was unable to make out all of the words, but your voice fits the music well.

Ray, great backing band.
IMHO your vocal should be louder. From what I heard you have a good voice so showcase it.

Hi Ray,

I watched & listened to this yesterday but didn't have time to leave a comment.

Man, just like watching MTV a number of years ago. I'm glad you decided to move forward with this. Like others have said, your vocal could come a little more forward in the mix.

Sometimes, when we dust off some things we set aside a while back, it turns out really nice when we play with it again. This is a perfect example.

Uh ... my dishwasher quite working a few days ago ... if you're available to help out, let me know!

Best to you, mate!

Alan

Weird how we never met and you are one of my favorite human beings being human, Ray. Everything you do it uniquely you and creativly genuine. Love this --both the fast-paced song. the compelling lyrics, your vocal, musical production AND video. Man, there are so many other good things about all of this, but they are the things the defy explaination.

Enjoy whatever happens!

That bears repeating. Ditto. Ditto. Ditto.

Cool video.

The piano really caught my ear this time around. Love it.

This one sticks in your head. For a very long time.

First, Janice said she loves your cozy kitchen. 😊
It’s a thoroughly entertaining video and the various clips well support the lyric, as does your relaxed performance.
We’re glad you kept your vocal and hope you’ve come to like it better.

Cool!

I'm not sure I really understand all the lyrics, but boy, this punky, raw thing really gets stuck in my head.
It's damn catchy [Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]

I saw Madness twice - once in a concert venue early on & later at their last gig, I believe, before their 1st break up, in a pub in S.W.Sydney.
It does have a late 70s early 80s thing I can hear that.

Thanks Brad,
I couldn't push the vocals any further forward given the qualities of my voice.
