What’s On Your Mind

Once upon a time
I could read you like a book
Didn’t have to move your lips
You could say it with a look
We had no secrets
We were open to each other
You were my best friend
My soulmate and my lover

Chorus
But lately I don’t know what’s on your mind
Lately I don’t know what’s on your mind

Once we would say the same thing
At the very same time
We were complementary
We were like a perfect rhyme
I knew where your thoughts were headed
Before you even realized it
You knew what I would say
Before I vocalized it

Chorus
But lately I don’t know what’s on your mind
Lately I don’t know what’s on your mind

Bridge
When did we start to drift apart?
Was it something that I failed to do?
Somehow we’ve got to make a brand new start
Cause I can’t bear the thought of losing you

Chorus
Oh, but lately I don’t know what’s on your mind
Lately I don’t know what’s on your mind

That's really cool.
As usual there's an aggressive, spikey resonance in Leo's vocal but it sits well with this song and the sympathetic backing plus fab solo.
Fabulous song chaps.

Cheers

Peter and Leon.
Really nice sounding song and well produced
"realized" and "vocalized".
I like that rhyme.

Hi, Peter and Leon.

Laid back folk sound, with pleasant vocals to match. Nice write.

Catchy chorus, guitar solo is in the right places and does what it should. Harmonies add weight to the final verse and chorus.

Good listen! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Peter,
Beautiful melody! And the chorus is quite distinct from the verse, I appreciate. Nice work, and the steel guitar solo's not bad either! At 2:00, I wasn't expecting the drums to be removed. It's even better that they're back in force at 2:22, original! And the pads add that melancholy touch. Nice touch, indeed

Wistful and wonderful. A very fragile sentiment perfectly captured in song. Love everything about the songcraft here. The overdriven outro is quite a lovely counterpoint, though it could have a longer/softer fade. Nice work, guys!

Very nice song. I enjoyed the write and the vocals and guitar work were very good too. It may have just been me, but I thought I could hear a lot of background noise in the mic.

Peter and Leon,

If I had heard this in a record store I would have purchased it right then and there!
This is so good in so many ways.
Great vocal, lyrics, guitar licks, backing band, mix, etc
Loved it

YES! Missed you, Leon. This is a good song, well written, well sung, well developed and with some magnificent guitar. Love the soft feel of it all, Peter. Like Mario said, "If I had heard this in a record store I would have purchased it right then and there!" Heck, if I thought music stores would have something this good, I'd visit --and certainly buy the whole album.

What a great opening lyric: "Once upon a time
I could read you like a book
Didn’t have to move your lips
You could say it with a look"
that grabs your attention and let's you know you're in for some verbal pleasure. (sheesh, that's an odd way of saying it) Loved the lyrics.

Enjoy whatever happens!

I love the slightly sad story and the way you present it.
The acoustic bridge adds a lot to the song.
Great idea!

It's good to hear one from you two again.

I like the gentle folk feel. Vocal fits perfectly. Nice harmony too. Guitar fills and solo are inspired. Well done!
