I'm so stoked. He did an incredible job, of course. This is the first one, called Punch Drunk in Love. Greg was a little concerned that the backing track needed to be smoothed out, but I lost the sgu, so he couldn't fix it. I'm thrilled with the results. The jazfred RS was used. I haven't done this in a while, hope I didn't forget any details. Lyrics: Don't think that I won't put up my dukes for you, When guys try to muscle in on our love I'll take em all on to keep from losing you, Give em a kick and a push and a shove I know a bunch of bums that'd love to trade places with me, But this is one Palooka that will not let that be. Welcome back! Cool swingin' jazz tune in a very timeless style. Nice throwback lyrics and too-cool-for-school vocals by Greg. Think the backing track is quite serviceable as-is. BiaB has some GREAT jazz backing styles and you've put this one to great use. Posting "details" are at the top of the User Showcase forum, but you've done real well without them.

That's a great jazz song...
Greg was the absolute right choice as the singer. Love the vocal, arrangement and mix.

My wife had her driving test today.
She got 8 out of 10.
The other 2 jumped out of the way!

Greg does a superb job.
The only nit I have is some of the stick hits that seem to come above Greg's head. You might be able to use precision EQ to deal with them in the back - depends on how you mixed etc.

Hello artist!
I was seduced by this track so it led me to listen to other tracks on Soundloud. Well, it's a great discovery! I've listened to all 33 tracks, some just for a few seconds, others in their entirety. Among my favourites are
‘The taste of her name’ (what a super-sensual sax),
‘Be sure and stay’ (first of all, I thought your voice was moulting!),
‘Gowith Me’, great female voice
'Another love', sweet bossa nova
'Is She the one', magnificent blues-rock
'Paper bag',
'Route 3' (just the guitar, bass and a super harmonica, wow!)
'Hymn for the opressed one', magnificent melody with only the guitar as accompaniment. It's great work!
Some tracks have a better finish than others (mix and master) but the whole thing is well worth the diversions and I can only encourage the other artists on this PG Music to visit your SC.

Hey Bob, Great to see you back here with a new song, it's been way too long! Excellent song, love the groove and arrangement. Great write too, you've always been good at this style. And of course Greg is the absolute best vocalist on this form for the smooth jazz vibe. Nice one, looking forward to hearing more

WOWWOWOW! Welcome back, Bardman. Yeah, missed ya, Bob, and what a way to come back. Man, time to celebrate with the fatted calf. And what an amazing return indeed. GREG JOHNSON!!! And you have a promise of a secon one. I always agree with FLoyd about most everything, but here is one undeniable truth: "I don't think there is a smoother singer on the planet."
Man, what a terrific song, Bob and Greg. I have it on repeat here. Love that band. No way anyone could make it as smooth as the singer, but it would be interesting to hear Greg's modifications. Sensational trumpet solo. too. Punch drunk love sounds iffy, but this song sounds so strong.

Hi Tunemonger and Greg.
I like those retro lines (palooka, dukes and box my ears). They really fit the style.
The band does seem out in front of the vocal so if you felt so inclined could be taken down a notch or two but it's no big deal.

I'm so happy you mentioned Taste of Her Name, because, as simple as it is, I think it's the best song I've ever done. Ray, thanks, I did fool around with the Waves Renaissance EQ on this track, which is the only EQ I feel competent to use, and I think I improved things. But in the end, I figured Greg's gorgeous vocals were the centerpiece, and the average listener doesn't care much beyond that. So I left things as they were.
