If I understand right, there are two possibilities to upgrade Audiophile 2024 to 2025:

- A) the download only version, containing only the NEW RealTracks/Drums, in FLAC format (30Gb)

- B) the SSD version containing ALL (old and new ones) the RealTracks/Drums

I suppose that if I choose the A option, I can download and put the FLAC files, on the same HDD where the OLD WAV files are, without any problem...BIAB 2025 Audiophile can read at the same way (and together in the same song) both WAV and FLAC files...am I right?

Thank you!

From what I saw, yes.
In your case example, the worst case scenario would be you have to extract the FLAC files to WAV, but I saw no issues with FLAC during Beta, myself.
I'm sure others will confirm/deny my answer shortly.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

HI Alf.

I had the same experience as rharv, During beta testing there were some FLAC files, wav files and wma files. BIAB worked seamlessly.

Hello alfstone, when you talk about "the download only version" are refering to "2025 Audiophile Edition PlusPAK
Upgrade" (149 $)? I notice that this option hasn´t the free 2025 bonus pack.

What I will say is just my opinion, please correct me if I am wrong somewhere.

Yes, the downloadable portion of Audiophile (30GB) based on Flac files, not Wavs. That's just the 2025 portion. By installing it over your 2024 Audiophile, it will make it whole. It should work seamlessly, however, You will have a mixture or Flac and Wav files.

The upgrade version that ships on 1Tb SSD hard drive, has complete 2025 Audiophile version in Flac (not just 2025 content). So...for $25 extra PGM charges for HD, it's no brainer to get it during the special they are running now. My plan is to do a complete clean FLAC install of Audiophile on internal drive.
2025 Flac Audiophile version is only 1TB, compared to 2TB from 2024. So, for one, it will save 1TB of internal storage. Think about this if you are running it that way. In the future, I will only be getting downloadable "update" portion instead of the hard drive.

Don't quote me on it, but I believe, when you purchase a HD, you can still download upgrade and explore it while until your HD arrives.

P.S. I am sure that at some point they will offer full Audiophile download. First step is made and to me it's a big deal.

If downloading the Audiophile 2025 update, I'm imagining that the update will have two steps for a split install of Audiophile 2024. First, update the 2024 SSD from the download. Second, perform a split install from the updated 2024 SSD. This sound right?

(My split install currently leaves audio data on the BiaB SSD, with program files on another drive)

Hi Ron,

That sounds right to me. PG Music might also give access to the non-Audiophile PlusPak which would allow you to update your computer's hard drive with .wma files. From experience, I know that PG Music will have something organised smile

I am with you on this. I just ordered my upgrade from the 2024 to 2025 audiophile pak with all the trimmings - hard drive version, all bonus paks, new styles, etc. - and will probably run it from the provided drive as I have in the past decade or so (1991-2012 I usually did a full install, as I had the the less than Audio file versions).

The fact it now fits on 1TB is intriguing. It may be worth adding a second (or third, in my case) hard drive and installing it on there. It would be cool if it came on an SSD drive already, and I could just slot it in, though of course there are OS considerations etc that are accounted for when running the install… Is it too late to get a new Cyber Monday/Black Friday laptop, hmmm…

I think that anyway there will be some kind of mix between FLAC and WAV files, if someone (like myself) has bought during the years Xpro and Xtra styles packs...I have them all, so I have to expect a mix of the two formats...

To my understanding Style packs (xpro, etc) do not contain audio data. They are compositions / instructions that make use of existing audio / Midi content, chords, mixer settings.

I have all the style packs and extras I bought as installers in one folder. Most users can download these from their "My Products" page.
My plan is when HD arrives to uninstall everything related to PGM. Do a clean install of Flac version and install all the xtra packs I bought on the top.

I think you are correct in general but I believe there have been a few style paks that contained some RealTracks. It’s a good question that PG Music could clarify. .

So I found that by hovering over the selections on the purchase page, a breakdown of what is included in the two Audiophile options is revealed. Have pasted them below. It APPEARS that there are content differences beyond the format of the sound files...

The Bonus Pak and the new MIDI SupertTacks, maybe some other stuff, isn't listed in the PlusPak...

I hadn't noticed that ... it definitely helps to clarify exactly what each package needs and offers. A thumbs up to PGM for that.

I saw it but couldn't print it. This helps. The critical info was that the downloadable $149 has NEW Flac files but the SSD $199 has ALL Flac files. I ordered the SSD.

Andrew, if both WAV and Flac files are present, does BIAB choose to use the WAV files?
