This is on Dowling Street in Houston Texas near where Sam used to live. This was a very strange part of my life in the segregated Jim Crow South where it was illegal for me to go into a black club. That never stopped me but it put all of us at risk. Some things I don't remember. What was Sam's wife's name? I can hear her voice in my head.

Dowling and Holman a song I had some input into. Joe lived in the third ward not far from Lightnin. Man, all that was a long time ago! Sonny Boy Terry on Mississippi Saxophone, I am still mad at him for running off with my French girlfriend...lol Everyone knew everyone who played music in the third ward. We all played together at one time or another. Albert Collins was related to Sam and how I got introduced to Albert. Johnny Clyde Copland lived in the third ward also. Perhaps you may not know any of these blues players but they were a big part of the music. You may have listened to Shemekia Copeland who was Johnny's daughter and is caring own the tradition today.
