Hi All,
I hope someone can help with this. I updated to 2025, and since then the boxes don't automatically close when I click ok. I don't remember having to tell it to do this in previous versions. I have searched all over in preferences, but no luck. Does anyone know how to tell it to close?
Just to be clear. I open say, the styles window, pick a style then click ok. The box stays open, I then have to click the little cross in the corner to close it.
Regards

It's an excellent question.
Many of the dialogs have been changed from 'modal' meaning that you have to interact with the dialog before moving on, to 'non-modal', which means that the dialog can stay open while you perform other tasks.
As a result of this, some things like 'OK', 'Apply' etc no longer behave the same way.
Ideally, some of these should have been changed to 'Save and Close' or similar, but that's not the case, so the only way to close these dialogs is by pressing the red 'X' in the top RH Corner,
I hope this helps to explain the new operations.

Trevor - may be true, but some, such as Stem Split have no advantage to remaining open afterward, so confusing at least.
I clicked OK, it does its thing, how do I know it is done now and safe to close sort of thing .. when other windows behave differently it affects UI/UX, so yeah , improved labeling would be nice

I am still running 2024 and when I open the Styles window, pick a style and then click close, the window does close.
I also noticed back at the beginning of 2024, many of the new popup windows introduced with the 2024 version also do not have a Cancel, Save or Save and Close button, primarily the Multipicker window (F7). It has an Apply button but then you have go to the upper right and click the X button to close it.
However if you click another new feature introduced in 2024, the MultiRiff window (F8), that does have both a Close and a Cancel button, HOWEVER, and get this, the X button on the upper right DOES NOT work on this window.
Good grief Charlie Brown!

Hi,
Thanks for the explanation. It looks like I am stuck with it. As you say Rharv, it does leave you wondering if anything has happened. Maybe in a future upgrade they put it back, or at least give you the option.
Thanks for your replies, have a great Christmas.

Totally agree with you rharv, there are many inconsistencies in how these dialogs work, including the labeling. Going non-modal has been a step in the right direction, but there are now confusing indications on some controls, e.g. what some "OK" buttons actually do.

Going non-modal has been a step in the right direction, but there are now confusing indications on some controls, e.g. what some "OK" buttons actually do. BiaB is clearly still in a state of change, but it's frustrating that PGM didn't think that through properly before they made the changes. The dialogs should, on the whole, have a consistent style, approach, operation. Things are small tweaks with limited obvious strategy. I took voluntary redundancy from an employer quite some years ago because they could never adopt a vision and a strategy. Eveything was piecemeal and reactive. So frustrating.

AudioTrack explained what is happening very clearly. Close the window with the X. I feel like I'm on a Mac.
I can confirm that this did not start with BIAB 2025. As Joseph Land pointed out, there have been a few dialog boxes that confuse me going back a year and I said so then. I realize the point is to be able to keep the dialog box open and make changes, but the exact buttons and prompting words still give me pause. So, I consider it a work in progress.
