Good choice of tracks for the BG. But what I liked most was your vocal. It had true Blues soul and attitude.
This reminded me of a couple of Blues houses in St. Louis, down close to the river. It has that live sound and the damned thing won't let my foot stay still!
This was VERY entertaining, I enjoyed the ride from start to finish, and your vocals are perfect for this genre. The harmonica could have a bit more treble, but that doesn't detract from a really cool song.
What a great band you've assembled. The harmonica especially is superb. I love what you've done. The band, the mix and your performance sat really comfortably in my headphones.
Some classic Christmas blues right here . . . The blues groove is excellent, perfect production elements for me. I think the lyrics on this are stellar . . . I like how the three stanzas work together (Xmas day, undefined date, then sometimes prior to New Year’s), without being too connected. I’m not sure that makes sense, but it’s connected without being linear. (Hmm, that makes less sense). But I guess I mean I really like the lyrics, LOL!
The sax sits well in the mix, as does the harmonica . . . yeah, maybe the guitar can be a tad less high end . . . but it’s pretty close to good.
Just the right length . . . ends with the story being told, and the ear wanting to hear more.
Love it, Bob!! Man, my 2nd & 3rd favorite Christmas albums are Blues. This one is a perfect fit. Love that harmonica. Cool vocal and solo. Heck, the whole dang song is so good.
