FEARLESS

(lyrics on Soundcloud)

I wrote this on piano.
When I loaded the chords into BIAB, I could not find RTs to match my piano track.
I've produce 250+ songs using BIAB...that has NEVER happened.
I found drum patterns in Addictive Drums that fit what I had in mind.
Then I found Just the right bass pattern in NI Session Bassist - Prime Bass.
Then 2 NI Picked Acoustic tracks
Then THE perfect chunk guitar - NI Session Guitarist - Electric Vintage.
Adding the RealDrum AmericanaRoots16th helped drive things along later in the song.

Then I went back to BIAB hoping to find a lead guitar (fills and solos).

4297:Guitar, Electric, Soloist ModernCountry16thsBrent Ev16 060
PERFECT.

The first place I dropped it - at the lead spot - worked better than any BIAB solo I've ever found (and I can ALWAYS find good solos in BIAB).
I wanted a heavy lead/fill under the chorus and found That almost immediately with the next section of the lead track
(I always generate an entire track of the solo guitar so I have a lot to choose from)
I kept shoving what was left of the solo track out to the right (to get it out of the way).
I ended up with a three and a half minute song with a solo track sticking out the back end for another 2 minutes.
When I played that through, the solo blew me away.
Decided I had to "save" it somehow.
So I built a full production around that sticking-out-the-back solo RT.

Brent is on fire. (thank you wherever you are)

BIAB is THE MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF SOFTWARE on my computer.
It has allowed me to truly learn production (over the last 12 years) - because of the thousands of tracks to choose from.
I feel this is the best production I've ever done.
It does not contain the typical number of RealTracks that I normally use.
But...BIAB is the reason I know how to do this.
(And it provided an absolutely Killer solo track).

Thank you, PGMusic.

I played the piano track. (NI Alicia Keys + TruePianos)
I played the celeste. (SynthMaster)
NI Session Bass
NI Picked Acoustic (2)
NI Vintage Electric

RealDrums in Song:AmericanaRoots16th^01-a:Toms , b:Snare

And, hey! My first 5 minute song!

Hope you enjoy every second.

I recommend headphones.
I recommend loud.
I recommend dancing.
And some air guitar. (You know you want to)

Nicely done. Reminiscent of the anthemic stadium rock hair bands which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I like it.

Well Floyd,

You've already used the first word that came to mind: PERFECT. Because - it is.

Those drums drive this in high gear all the way. The bass line fits like a fine jewel in a 24 ct gold crown. And yeah, Brent wasn't too shabby, either!

Are your vocals and mix ever not perfect - nah. They're a given before listening.

Didn't seem like 5 minutes. It just kept pushing along, steady like a California sunset on the Pacific Ocean.

I guess I'm done. Everything else would be redundant in different words. beside, I don't know what I'm talking about half the time. But I'm pretty sure I got this one right.

Floyd,

LOVE the intro...

The lyrics and melody are pure music magic. That chorus is truly magnificent - soaring and emotional. Yeah, that solo is unreal. It's has an intensity that is hard to capture, but you have done it here for sure.

I'm always blown away by your vocals and engineering. Your production is such a high point for me. Everything here is on 10 and the fade out with your vocal was perfect.

This one gave me chills...

Bob

Superb song, Floyd! Nice anthemic ballad with a "perfect" dynamic build and flow. Great vocals overall and those BGVs are very cool indeed. I don't use BiaB soloists much, but I absolutely agree that you get nicely nuanced performances from them, including this one. That was a lightening fast five minutes, which is the whole point, I think. Nice one, maestro!

Killer song.
'nuff said!

Or not...
LOVE what the bass does, excellent choice.
And it's been a long time since I listened to a guitar solo outro till the end.
That was a great idea.
And the transition from the louder part of the chorus to the quieter part works extremely well.

Personally, I'd up the lead vocal in the first part of the chorus a dB or three to put it above the band, but I assume you've already tried that and liked it better the way it is now.
Anyway, killer song, killer production.
My new favorite song of yours.

Hey this sounds really good.

Has kind of an 80s rock ballad feel to it, like Journey or something.

You sure do get enthusiastic about your productions!

Easy to tell you love your musical adventures.
😂

Well, sure sounds nice and I really enjoyed it.

This echoes John Cougar's Cherry Bomb and Bryan Adams's Summer of '69, and fully deserves its place along side those two anthems. I am listening several times, it's that good. Definitely one of the best songs you've ever donel Hats off, without a doubt!

The backing is pure Chris Cross meets MMc Doobees but the melody & vocal are way better than those & lift the song above their level of AOR.
I was hoping for a Floyd solo but will settle for Floyd rhythm guitar, piano, celeste etc. for this one.
AB FAB.

Cheers

Floyd,

OK, so I listened to this over the laptop as I was lazily browsing a couple of hours ago . . . but as I’m spending some time on the site tonight, I embraced your suggestion to put the headphones on . . .

I’m glad I did . . . really outstanding production elements throughout. I like in particular that electric rhythm in the chorus . . . really resonates. I’ve never been a big fan of Brent’s solos . . . they just rarely work for me . . . but I agree here that in this song, it nails it.

Excellent lyrics . . . big sound. That opening with the piano had a very Springsteen type sound . . . and while what followed took on a bit more of a country sound . . . I could hear Bruce doing this song.

Big thumbs up on this one from me!!

Deej

Hi, floyd jane.

Great intro. I love playing that kind ostinato stuff on the piano because it sounds so good. smile

The verse sounds great, and then it explodes at the chorus.

Catchy, lingers in the ear like a pop song should. And the outro keeps it going!

What's that word you use? Killer. smile

One of your very best, Floyd.

The lyrics are exceptional, the attention to (and painting/description of) detail is incredible. The musical writing is incredible - someone mentioned Bruce Springsteen ... yes, it has echoes of him, but I'm glad I'm hearing YOU sing this. The vocal performance is you to a tee ... of incredible quality, and with those trademark Floyd Jane voice inflections which take it all "over the top", as it were. The piano playing and instrumental arrangement are the cherry on the cake.

This is superb stuff.

Oh, yeah, Brent is so good in so many ways, and you brought out the best, Floyd. What a sensational sound --a BIG sound in this one. Cant definitely see why you kept that extended ending, and that you fearless cheered him on with some soaring vocals. Yeah, I tried some air guitar but ending up only playing 4 strings with my index finger and thumb.

When my granddaughter saw this one on my computer screen, she said, "Wow, he did a Taylor song." Eat your heart out TayTay.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Brilliant, Floyd. Really great dynamics in the construction and a top-notch chorus! And also good to hear great solos, which I always feel are missing in a lot of songs.
