I am assuming that I can use a utility track to record my saxophone into BIAB, by using an analog to digital converter?

If so, can I make a complete recording in BIAB without going to an outside DAW?

Finally, can I sync a webcam up with BIAB and me playing the sax to add video?

Audio can be recorded on any track of the Mixer - Screen Shot attached

Yes

Finally, can I sync a webcam up with BIAB and me playing the sax to add video?
This requires video software for the video and it's possible to manually sync recorded video and recorded audio in the video software

Whoa! Sounds really interesting. Are there any tutorials on this subject? It might be very interesting to not go to a DAW and make a really quick recording this way.

Thanks Charlie. Much appreciated. Do you happen to have any suggestions for the video software. Not sure what exactly to look for.

I forgot to attach the screen shot. I've edited my post to include it.

I'm attaching a link to a PG Music tutorial for recording audio in BIAB. Record Audio in BIAB

Capcut is a free video editor with a lot YouTube tutorials.

There's not a lot of interest or discussion on the Forums for recording in the BIAB program. It actually is a very robust digital, multi track recorder and the BIAB WAV Instructions for the main program are more advanced, complex and full-featured than the lite algorithms used for the Plug-in and RealBand which are intended for users to manually construct and comp arrangements. I do most all of my recording using only BIAB.

I am knocked out by this. I had absolutely no idea that BIAB could do this. The video was super well-produced and perfectly explained. I think this just saved me a bucket-load of complexity. I now know that if I am just improvising over a backing track I can record right in BIAB and then listen back for learning and analysis. I wonder why this capability is not mentioned more often? Thanks Charlie. I am so glad you answered these questions and linked to the video. Huge service to me! And it was very interesting to hear that you do this routinely.

Second thought about some basic details.
1. How do you erase a track that you have recorded if you want to give it another "go"?
2. Can you create multiple versions of your solo like in a DAW without overwriting your first take?
3. I suspect maybe you can use those "utility tracks" as additional tracks to record on?
Excited to dive in. I think this might make a perfect practice tool.

1. If you want to give a take another "go", select the take again option that appears in the window when you stop recording.
2. Yes, this is possible regardless whether you are doing Sound on Sound recording in the Audio Recording Window or recording audio to various Mixer Tracks. Takes can be moved to other tracks or saved as individual files.
3. Absolutely. You can record on any BIAB Mixer Track. I normally don't use the Drums track in particular and I also avoid the Melody and Soloist Tracks if possible. They have special functions that may be necessary for some algorithm options.

You can use Zoom to record a video of yourself playing with BIAB, but your interface should have a feature called "Loopback" which allows "What you hear" as an audio source. I like the MOTU 2 as an inexpensive interface that does this easily without extensive knowledge of re-routing (as my Presonus Quantum requires.)
