Hi all,

I'm trying to download and install the Ultrapack, and running into several problems:
1.) Even though I have a newly formatted external 4TB hard drive (WD gaming drive), Install manager sees the directory but falsely indicates "0 bytes free", and in bottom status bar "Note": You do not have enough space on the selected hard disc)

2.) The install manager will allow me to download all files, but after downloading ONE file, it does not move onto the next file and begin downloading it. At this point, if P press "Pause" and then "Resume", it will begin downloading and finish downloading only 1 file - even though it is set to "Download all files" - and again I must manually press pause and resume.

Anyone have a suggestion ?

PS - from the error log:

Latest DL manager? Check version:
https://www.pgmusic.com/support.updates.win.dm.htm

If yes ^
Try to run as admin.
Make sure download path is pointing to the proper drive. Simple stuff gets overlooked.
Uncheck "Automatically install downloaded files". Wait will all downloaded, press big yellow button on upper right "Install All"

Alternatively (I believe) you can go to C: (or whatever drive you have downloaded files) Usually in root, folder: BBDownloads
And if the files are there, just install packages manually. If this is an upgrade, should not be a long process.

I attempted to load the old extra BIAB stuff (Bonus Paks etc.) onto my new 1TB SSD drive and ran out of space. 0 bytes free. What surprised me is that the file copying program (not PG Music's download manager) didn't warn me I didn't have the space to proceed.

I don't think this is related to your situation but I thought I would pass it along in case there is something awry. I don't think so, though. I just off-loaded some files and proceeded to put the important ones on.

Thank you Rustyspoon - gave all that a try, same result.

The only other "out of the norm" thing I could think of is that the drive came partitioned as exFAT, and I did a "Quick Format" to NTFS...but that shouldn't change anything.

Computers always throw a curve ball at us...just too many unanticipated things and 'oddball' road conditions for programmers to anticipate - just like the software world of self-driving cars.

I downloaded a "Download manager" - going to do it that way.

What does Windows Explorer report when you right click on the external drive letter and select Properties from the sub menu?

I think your switch of formatting to NTFS was good and is not relevant here.

It seems like it failed to get information about your hard disk for some reason. I see from the other thread that you successfully downloaded the files, but if you can zip the full log and send to webmaster@pgmusic.com that would be great, as I would like to investigate that further.

Hi all,

After spending quite a bit of time feeling that maybe I find some quirky install manager problems, I have to let PG and all kind enough to try and help that it seems to be an error with the external WD 4TB gaming drive I purchased.

An internet search shows this a common problem with this and other WD large capacity external drives.

As is common with me - I purchase items that I don't get around to using for many months, even years. I'm lucky I can afford to do this (BB no exception lol)

Based on all the complaints and looking at WD's support policy, it seems they've completely wiggled out of fixing this problem legally - they probably new all along as they continued to sell and ship them. Likely a firmware problem, and it cannot be updated on this drive.

That said, I can still use the drive. The BB install manager will warn of insufficient space, but still allow a single install to run - it will not run the next install automatically - my guess, due to thinking the disk is out of space and displaying that message, stopping. The next install program can be manually restarted and works.

File manager can see the empty space.

Whatever method the BB install manager uses to check space on the disk, that is what my WD gaming drive does not properly support.

Also, the Realtrack settings Custom Realtracks Folder "Update" button does not work on this drive either - when clicked, nothing happens, yet I can type the external folder path into the textbox and have it accept that.

I'm finishing the manual install of the program and I'm hoping good to go after that rather than junking the drive.
