All-

I'm still learning how to use Logic Pro 11 and Band in a Box 2024. Sure wish I'd done this a few years back during the covid lockdown. Here's a little arrangement of Auld Lang Syne that I did to post to my friends this past New Year's Eve. It's in Bb major, "The People's Key" as it is known to wind players. I put a short 8 measure interlude in the middle so that I could improvise a solo.

On the intro, I had band in a box generate a solo with a real track featuring Jeff Lorber. Tempo is quarter note = 85 bpm.

Memo: This slow 1970s funk rock style features a perfect drum groove that is backed by pop organ, two electric guitars, and electric bass. -Examples: Rock On, Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get, Genre "Intensity" Score=60/100
_PAPASAN.STY. Papasan Slow '70s Funk Rock
All RealTracks. Quintet. Tempo=75 (65-90)
Instruments: El.Bass, Organ, El.Guitar, El.Guitar, Drums
RD: FunkRock70sSlow^5-a:Hihat, Snare , b:Bright Ride, Snare :Robert "Sput" Searight
RT1636: Bass, Electric, JazzFunkBreezy Ev16 075 , Alex Al
RT2692: Organ, Rhythm ModernPopSlowMike Ev 075 , Mike Rojas
RT804: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm DrivingCountryBalladClean Ev 065 (A:chop) , Audley Freed
RT2617: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Funk16thsWahWah Ev16 100 , Greg Moore
Soloist over the intro: 1239:Piano, Electric, Soloist SmoothJazzPoppy chorus EV16 -90 (Jeff Lorber)

Recorded in Logic Pro X and a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Gen 4. Microphone is a Sennheiser 441-u.

Enjoy! Happy New Year!

Mario-

Thanks for giving it a listen. Still trying to dial in the right EQ for the sax in Logic. It's getting closer :-)

I noticed that you are near Rochester. Ever spend any time at the Eastman School of Music?

Yep, an oldie but goodie. I love Robert Burns, have you ever tried "Caer the Yeowes?" (My spelling might be off there.) I liked the little surprise lick you did at 1:50 and the ending lick. Good job!

WOW! As soon as I finish here, I gotta go back to you YT channel. Love the sax, man. Every song should have one --there's even a few sax concerti. BIG welcome to the forum, Steve. Can't wait to hear more.

Oh, man, what an enjoyable time I just spent on your YT channel, Steve. Good band, too, sir.

No I haven't. When things were happening there I was either gigging or having family time. I needed family time as I most of the time I had three jobs, my daily main job, gigging, and teaching guitar and bass. My actual social life was literally zero.

Hi, Steve.

Sounds great!

This is was the sort of thing that BiaB was built for - so sax players would have a band that gave them room to solo without complaining! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I kept it down to only 8 measures! LOL

Sax players at a jam session... taking 5-minute solos and killing the bass player :-)

Is there a way to get BIAB real tracks to play specific melodic lines? I know I can do with with midi, but how difficult is it to translate the midi lines to real tracks? Is that even possible?
