This One's For The Ride on Soundcloud
This One's For The Ride on YouTube

A song of life –or for life, and how music is a big part of it. Seemed like a good one to start the year.

Style is _ANGSTY1.STY (Angsty Youthful Pop Clean)

RealTracks in style: 1006:Piano, Acoustic, Solo-Accompaniment, PopCaliforniaSlow Ev 085
RealTracks in style: 839:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopBalladClean Ev 085 (A:arp)
RealTracks in style: 840:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopBalladClean Ev 085 (B:strum)
RealDrums in Song: WorldPercKeitaSlowSw16
RealDrums in style:RockModernRnB^05-a:Snare Busy, Closed HiHat , b:Snare Busy, Ride was used in the redesign in EZDDrummer.
Bill Zydecoal Davis, aka Dr. Buddy Love on YT supplied the pedal steel, and I played bass, keyboard and sang –then added more percussion. Sheesh.

This One's For The Ride
Can you tell me something that makes you want to sing?
We can write a song about it.
It'll be for you and me, cuz ya see that's the thing.
No one else we know will care.
It'll be the greatest song that no one ever hears.
It could cure the ills of life and bring clowns down in tears.
Just another piece of life with you by my side.
This one's for the ride.

We can go on living and loving while we sing.
We will never be without it.
We will sing our way along through what our life will bring. Every note we sing we'll share.
It'll be the greatest song to sing when we grow old,
It'll be our music score for the greatest story told.
It will be the melody that keeps us in stride.
This one's for the ride.

I know there's more to life, and you know it too.
Music has a way to help us through.
It's so much better living life side by side. This one's for the ride.

END: It will be our number one that only we will play.
We will play it everywhere and every single day.
It will keep us cold or warm depending on the tide.
This one's for the ride.

Your love songs are always so cute and full of love.
It's a bit unusual to hear a pedal steel instead of Dave, but it works really well and gives the song a cool American vibe (at least for us Europeans who associate pedal steel with your country).
Great work from all involved.
Love your love song!

Marty, an outstanding song for your wife!
Everything is spot on, as usual.
The backing band is perfect for this song.
Speaking of this song, loved it.

Marty, epic tune. That steel had me rushing back to the credits to figure out which RT can do THAT. Ha! None, obviously. Very compact song structure that works well, super arrangement and nice mix. A great start to 2025!

A little more pensive fom you Marty, more philosophical than story telling. Lovely words embracing the magic and power of music.
I enjoyed the entire kit and caboodle of this, i.e. vox, words and production. Great kick start to the year! Nice.

I like your use of music as a metaphor. Something I can definitely relate to. Good positive song to start the year, for sure. I like the mood of contentment this song evokes.

This is a sweet and obvious track. It’s the way you use music as a metaphor for life that is done beautifully and with the pedal steel really bringing everything all together, making it feel nostalgic and yet new. This is an excellent blend of thought provoking lyrics and a soothing arrangement, a great start for the year!

Really nice tune, Marty, I love how your words fit so nicely into your melodies. Because of that, it's always a pleasure to listen to your songs. And nicely sung as well. DId I read where you posted thirty songs in 2024? Wow, that's prolific! I think ten is the best I've ever done. Looking forward to what you have for us in 2025!

Thanks, Elliott. Pedal Steel Bill is so impressed with the way you use synths, his next will feature them too.

"This one's for the ride."

LOVE that title! And that idea...
Nice life-is-good song, And the perfect man to sing it!

About half way through the song, I was thinking the steel was an amazing match for the song, so I looked back to see what RT that was... Great job, Bill....

Excellent mix.

Oh yeah, music definitely has a way to help us through life and this says it so well:

“I know there's more to life, and you know it too.
Music has a way to help us through.
It's so much better living life side by side. This one's for the ride.”

“Our song” has been the Animals’ “We’ve gotta get outta this place” due to our regrets of not heading to CO 20 years ago but your song is much happier. 😊

We love the country groove and your vocal fits it perfectly. Also, Bill’s pedal steel is oh so good! Love that snare pop too.
And the entire mix is excellent. Wide open with great dynamics … the kind we love.

Most excellent!

Thanks, Ron. Bill will be the first guy to tell ya that every pedal steel musician in the BiaB arsenal is better than he is, as all the bass players are far far beter than me. It's just fun to contribute, and there's something to be said about knowing the song.
