Anyone attending?

I'd be interested in a couple of talks given by movers and shakers if I could be there.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

No, but I'm curious about what Dreamtonics will be announcing for SynthesizerV. They've teased there will be "something", but no details have been given.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I expect A.I. will be seen to be playing a bigger role in music production. I would be great to have the opportunity to attend.

I was thinking about it. I have been a bunch of times, and it is always interesting.

But this year, LA seems like a very sad place to be.

“Amazing! I’ll be working with Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Parker, Art Tatum, and Buddy Rich, and you’re telling me it’s not that great of a gig?
“Well…” Saint Peter, hesitated, “God’s got this girlfriend who thinks she can sing…”

I have two kids in LA. If you had to be in the area right now, Anaheim is a safer choice.

We went a lot back when it was in Chicago (central location), but the PITA of a trip to LA kinda took the fun out of it ..

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

<< when it was in Chicago >>

I just recently found out the guitar my parents purchased in 1059 was the first Gibson Double Neck prototype guitar and was built for the 1957 NAMM Trade Show at the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. I was able to find a photo of the guitar used during that show and more documentation the museum used to validate the guitar to be both the initial prototype and also the one at the NAMM Trade Show. I wonder if that would get me a ticket to this year's show? ;=)

EDIT: While this photo is from an article about the show and that is the correct guitar in the photo, the text on the photo is incorrect. The guitars model name wasn't designated as the model EDS-1275 until years later. It's probably a mock-up but a cool photo nevertheless.

]I’m a member and go every year. I have done favors for NAMM over the years and could go free but no one wants to talk to anybody without a BUYER badge (I don’t blame them). I need to remind some suppliers who I am. One company president told me I could order his wares through Sweetwater before I told him I buy direct and have an account with him… stuff like that.

Many companies I do business with no longer exhibit, unfortunately. Also, losing Sunday put quite a damper on events surrounding the show. Can’t say that anything excited me—usually there’s something. I enjoy hanging out with old friends and colleagues like Ren Ferguson and Greg Deering, though.
