I noticed that BIAB officials are mainly collecting some interface suggestions recently.
Actually, I think the most important thing is the search function.
For example, if I like a song, I put the MP3 in and immediately find similar music styles and REALTRACKs that can be matched.

What do you think?

Having thousands of little puzzle pieces at hand when creating a new song is really great. Although the predefined styles already help a lot, the further workflow can become a bit cumbersome, when it comes to refining in terms of replacing style tracks or adding further utility tracks.Even when the intended realtrack or midi track would be available, it is hard to find within thousands of of puzzle pieces. The current filtering and preview options are not helpful enough for a straight forward workflow. A smarter filtering option would be highly appreciated and should be possible somehow in times of AI.

What would already help a lot :to find the appropriate track:

- Selecting an instrument category (e.g. guitar, horns, fiddle, keys, ...) and soloing thetselectedt rack by default, playing the preview track based on chords, tempo and groove of the chordsheet.

Additional filtering in terms of expressive/soft could be also helpful.

There might be further smart options to support the search process, but I have no better ideas yet.

I agree.
With so much content at your disposal, it's incredibly difficult and time consuming to find the right style / instrument you're looking for with the current tools, wich usually is really frustrating for the end user.

If I was on the development team this would be, undoubtedly, my #1 priority.

+1 for this Wish.

Searching styles is critical. Using a sound sample would be amazing

I also would like to sort on columns within columns. For example, sort on Tempo then sort on Simple while the first sort, Tempo, still holds. Etc. carried to more columns.

+1 for the initial wish
+1 for Matt's addition - which is necessary IMHO

The Styles tab of the MultiPicker has a setting that will playback the Chordsheet instead of the style demo.

Referring to the O/P:'s suggestion:
Quote
For example, if I like a song, I put the MP3 in and immediately find similar music styles and REALTRACKs that can be matched.

I think that the request is to match a style to an audible sample.

Thats the way I took it, too. I recall info here in Off-Topic about another product that could do that.

Jim is correct, though in addressing another request by the OP.

It is probably a question of the songwriting approach and the intention.
Often enough I have an idea about a particular instrument to use before the style is clear. Reducing the style search to styles with such an instrument would already ease and speed up the search process a lot.
In a second step I would then search for the best realtrack to fit with the song and chosen style.
Using an audio example for the search is also a very nice idea, but might become too complicated to be implemented.
Let's keep it simple and pragmatic. That increases the chance for a solution in short time.

This is an excellent method to search and BIAB has this feature. Good suggestion.

This has been discussed several times before, in fact Peter said that something along these lines was planned:

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=746036#Post746036

Search by tapping rhythms or by audio source is already possible with several products, it will be ideal for BIAB (and since all RD /RT have already is Midi version, for notation purposes, part of the job is already done)

Usually I start songwriting with some audio recording of a vocal melody and some guitar or uke. Then I bring this in shape with the tempo equalization in BB Standalone,

Afterwards I create chordsheet and structure and try to search some style alternatives with the intended instrument set and groove. At this point style library acts as a source of inspiration for me.

Once I have found something that goes in the right direction, I switch to the DAW and the plugin, where I try to optimize the tracks, either by customizing the style or adding/recording further tracks, either using BiaB Realtracks or my other midi libraries or playing something myself .

The decision depends on what I find and how good it fits with my intention in terms of sound and groove. If it takes too long to find an appropriate Realtrack, I go for the alternatives.
