When I was about 13 or 14 I used to imagine having a girl friend and what she would be like.
I even imagined going for walks with her.
Well, you have to start somewhere. Don't you?

Looking out for you © 2025 Vic Arnold

V1
We never met but I know you.
with your "come here" eyes and long dark hair.
Your smile is warm, your words are true.
We build a future from thin air.
Ch.
But I'm still looking out for you etc.
I'm still looking out for you etc.
I think you're looking for me too.
You're looking for me too.
V2
Though my life's a fantasy.
I share all there is to share.
But something's missing so it seems.
I can't hold what isn't there.
Ch.
But I'm still looking out for you etc.
I'm still looking out for you etc.
I think you're looking for me too.
You're looking for me too.

Br.
With childlike innocence,
moving closer to the fire.
No natural defence
to my illusions and my desire.

Got me with the first chords..they said “attention!”…not sure if you intended that, but I think it’s a very strong song-architecture element—get the listeners attention immediately. I liked the track overall. Not sure if it was all BIAB or some live, but easy to listen to, and I enjoyed it!

Vic,

Nice one! Reminds me of a Warren Zevon type tune for some reason. Production/mix all sound good to my ears. Great, catchy hook. Very well done!

All my best,

Deej

Vic, a great coming of age song.
Great vocal and lyrics.
Super backing tracks.
I really enjoyed this flashback song.

Excellent song musically and lyrically, Vic. I think we all go through that in our early teens. I recall when I was around 14 my 2 best friends fantasising what it would be like to not only date specific girls they had crushes on, but also to marry and live with them and then have kids! It was a bit too far for me. I was content just fantasising about dating the 'fab chick' I had a crush on. laugh

Thanks Tano Music.
The first chords were inspired by listening to a song by "The Who".
They knew how to grab attention.
All tracks were BIAB.

Hi Deej.
I'm not sure why you thought Warren Zevon either although I appreciate your thought.
My thoughts were Springsteen and The Who when I wrote it,

Thank you

The User Showcase is still the fun place to be here in the forum. It's a good feeling hearing how many others enjoy BIAB and showcase their talents. This is the first song on the Showcase I've listened to in a while and it's just what I mean. A fun song, well-written, arranged, performed and produced. Enjoyed my listen.

Cool song, Vic. Very catchy and anthemic. Love the vocal FX chain on this one, that's a keeper. Well done!

Vic,

I really like the feel of this vibe! Not sure I'm correct but I think the term is 'syncopated'. This is a classic song structure - which I love as it makes more sense to my brain. Great guitar solo choice and production all around.

Hi Dewey.
I never thought about "syncopation" in musical terms before but now you mention it ...... confused

As I understand it, the term is applied to beats being stressed where they wouldn't normally be stressed. Reggae seems a good example in that the off beat is stressed. I could be wrong though.
Thanks for jumping in.

Wow, a 13-14 year boy thinking about getting a girl to go on walks. You're holding bac, Vic. But, man, you turned this is to a wonderful song. Brilliant idea, him thinking of her and her of him without knowing each other --yet. Just wondering where your walks took you. I'm sure you both found each other.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Yeah, 13-14 was a cool and (most of the time) innocent time.
Glad we all have those memories, and you made a really nice song out of it.
Enjoyed my listen!
