This is a remake of an instrumental I first did more than 20 years ago I've been messing around with home recording since the 70's, I had a reel to reel tape recorder that could do sound on sound and spent many hours playing with that, and later I had a four track cassette recorder. Computer based recording really kicked things up a few notches in the results you were able to achieve with a home studio, even back 20 odd years ago. I recorded 3 CD's worth of instrumentals back then, some better than others of course. I've always liked this particular song, and it was actually Marty that suggested we do a remake. The original used BIAB for the drums, piano, strings, bass, and acoustic guitar, back then everything was midi of course. Unfortunately I no longer have the SGU so can't list the tracks I used, but the piano and strings in this version are still from BIAB. The Band:Drums: EZDrummer3 Piano and Strings: BIAB Bass: Marty Straub(BabuMusic) The percussion track was built using Acid Loops via a program called Acid Music from a now defunct company called Sonic Foundry. I re-recorded all of the guitar parts with the exception of the solo, I like the solo I did back then and wanted to preserve it. I would have used either a Johnson J-Station or a POD XT hardware based amp sim to process the guitar. All of the re-recorded electric guitars, three tracks, are going through S-Gear. The acoustic guitar is processed with CLA Unplugged. This version differs from the original in that I added a harmony guitar part to the main theme. The original was mixed with Adobe Audition 1.5 and mastered with Ozone 2.0, this version is mixed with Reaper and mastered with Ozone 11, using plugins from Waves and iZotope. Audio only version up on ReverbNation, here: Evening in Brazil All comments welcome!

Dave,
This was a worthy resurrection. Great flow and tone. Your guitar sounds awesome, as does Marty and the rest of the band.
The mix is big and wide - sounds great on my room speakers.
Loved it!

Great job intermixing BIAB with your talents, Dave, and I agree, the guitar solo was worth keeping. Great job on Bass, Marty!
This definitely has a summer feel to it. Great job!

Hey, Dave, not sure if we ever talked about this (oldman memory is good cuz we can watch the same movie every year or two and think it's new), but I also had a reel like yours in the 70s (more on my pots 'n' pans percussion in an upcoming post), and a Tascam $-track in the 80s. 2005 was the first BiaB disk --if I remember; before that it was floppies. I was late to the DAW thing, but, man, if I new we could do this then...
Okay enough about me --except DANG, thanks so much for bringing me in on this one. What a fun tune to play. Hey I have a few more requests...
Those guitars are sensatonal, my friend, and I love how this one shows so much of your extraordinary talent. There will not be any worries about me remember this one in years (you know... if...) cuz there will never be that much time without another listen

Dave, second this being a worthy resurrection. Love those harmonizing guitars as well as, well...all the other guitar work. Superb solo. Marty's bass anchors it all perfectly. Appreciate all the technical detail. The results are supremely musical and a lot of fun. Score!

Dave, I'm glad that you posted this outstanding song Great job on that axe - super chops Loved that groove. Marty did a fantastic job on that bass - what else is new right Super mix Loved it PS - a Johnson J-Station. I had forgotten about that one as it was my first guitar to computer interface. If I recall correctly (big chance on that though) one had to do a lot of EQing to get it to sound right.

Save & Marty,
What a great song! Glad you brought this one back to life!
Back in the 70s I had an Ikai 4-track sound on sound reel-to-reel. I bought in Tokyo when I was on R&T from Vietnam. Wish I still had it :C
The twinning of the guitars is really special Thet really pop. And, of course, anything Marty touches instantly gets a brighter shine
Excellent work, gentlemen.
Alan

I can see why this is a favorite for you. I like the driving energy of the harmony guitars. I lost myself in your solo. Mighty good. T.B. Player does nice work, too!

Great instrumental and that original solo really does the job.

Dave, I listened to both versions..each, for me was A++! Just this AM, before listening, I decided to begin a re-do of something I recorded over 30 years ago—this track is inspiring me to dig deeper. Anyway, I enjoyed everything about BOTH..extremely impressed with the production. Thanks for sharing this!

Dave and Marty. Great sounding instrumental. Guitar almost sounds like brass. Marty's bass sounds just right.
