I started working with UAV footage in DaVinci Resolve to output a few videos. So far I've used some of my own material for the audio, a combination of me playing and BIAB built backing tracks. That works well enough.
I'm thinking now of using BIAB to generate the entire audio segment of the project. BIAB seems the perfect tool for generating the right mood (style) at about the proper length I'm thinking about using the BIAB "band" as well incorporating some of the soloists.
Just wondering if any other users have built film/video scores with BIAB.
I anticipate using BIAB and a DAW (Logic Pro) to create my input to Resolve. I am aware of Fairlight, which is good for any final adjustments in the project.
Anyway, Tips, tricks, or "do not do this" appreciated.
Thanks

I recall BIAB had some feature to generate a soundtrack of a specified length. I never tried it and I’m not sure if it still exists. Perhaps something to give you ideas?

I've used the Generate Soundtrack feature Matt mentions many over the years although I've not used it recently. It's still available in the 2025 BIAB for Windows version in the Melody sub menu.
It's possible to use any SGU file with this feature.
I came into BIAB through the plug-in for Finale and still keep a Mac that can run 32bit apps so that I can use it now and then in Finale 2014.5. For commercial and infomercial beds, it’s a tremendous time saver. Sketch out an idea and the BIAB plug fills in many of the blanks. Unfortunately, it was never updated to 64 bit and cannot be used on any Mac introduced 2019 or later.
Although I like the Generate Soundtrack feature, I rarely finish my tracks in BIAB so I use other tools to edit timing to the gnat’s whisker. My go-to for this and many other tasks is TwistedWave

Thanks for the tip about TwistedWave. I had not heard of this one previously.

I have used BIAB to generate soundtracks for videos many times. Here is one of the few public videos available. It is a video soundtrack created using BIAB and RealBand. I auditioned tracks and loops in BIAB, but almost all of the generating and work was done in RealBand. RealBand allows for syncing individual music clips with specific sections of the video.
First the video was imported into RealBand and then the tracks and loops were generated as required for sections of the video.
The first 1:30 minutes contain the following RealTracks and loops:
RealBass 2749 Bass, electric, Rock Shuffle HardDoug sw 120 Real Drums – Rock Shuiffle ^ 1- HiHat, Ride Real Piano 2728 Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Blues Shuffle/Mike Sw 130 RealGuitar 1584 Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Texas Blues Rock Shuffle Brent sw 130
Various other synth sounds were played in with MIDI.

A few people have asked me about this. Let me clarify. The free Band-in-a-Box Auto-Harmonizing Plug-in was included in Finale from 1990 through version 2014.5. The link is from the 2014 Windows manual but it worked the same on a Mac. I don't recall the year but I had a 2-day assinment to write all the cues for a Good Feet Store infomercial and it saved my butt big time!
Since I still begin a lot of my work in notation, having the original plug-in for Finale comes in handy when on a deadline. Unfortunately, it cannot run on a Mac first made after 2018 so my 2012 MacBook Pros will be around a long time. If one has Win10 or earlier and can obtain a license for Finale 2014.5 or earlier, it probably still works.
