The Isle of Yu is fictional from a book I'm writing - a sequel to a previous one, though I now doubt I'll finish. As the drums, percussion, then shortly the bass and 2 rhythm guitars come in I image a steam train similar to that in the video chugging away from the capital's station platforms. When the marimba and kalimba next com in I picture the train crossing a network of railway lines just outside the station; then when the organ enters I see the train now passing through the outskirts of the small city of Yu. Next, as the piano solo comes in I imagine the train now travelling through Isle of Yu countryside on it's way to the coast; then finally when the guitar solo steams in I visualise being aboard the train and viewing a beautiful coast to the east. Eventually the journey ends at its destination, the smaller coastal city, Yuluv-meetu (not in the book!).. Chay, great sounding arrangement and mix as always. Enjoyed your narrative walkthrough of the tune. This is similar to how I think of orchestrating music, even when there are lyrics.

Bright and dynamic. Another musical production that has a lot to like about.

Thanks for the response, Ron. I don't always have visuals in mind when I'm composing, though sometimes the visuals come before the music and inspire it. My next post will be the first new instrumental of this year and it's called "Dreaming Of". I initially had a particular lady in mind and was going to use her name, but then I thought it best to let the listener fill in the gap.

Chay, You have such a great ear for arranging and mixing. Excellent composition once again with a superb mix. I always enjoy listening to your music. Bob Thanks, Bob. The arranging and mixing is key for me as it's like painting a collage with sound, but every time I've tried mastering I always prefer the original version. Just recently a guy offered free mastering of one track in hope of getting following paid work, so I sent him my "Moonlight On The bay", but what I got back was absolutely atrocious! All feature and dynamics had gone from it and the waveform was like a big, thick flatline! I was appalled at how he'd destroyed the track. But I don't have space left on my PC for getting the necessary plug-ins so sometime this year I'll see if someone on Fiverr can do a proper job

Got my first litsten moments after you posted on YT. Steel drums, marimba, a groovey piano...man, you build these pieces so wonderfully, Chay. The guitarist sounded like a vacationer, but he sure sounded like he was enjoying it. You "paint a collage with sound" so well, Chay.

I like how you build this as it goes along.
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.comAdd nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both. The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

What an interesting musical journey. It works even without a melody. Good one.

Man, there are so many cool both overlapping and juxtaposed vibes there. Love that latin feel.
The band is amazing and wrapped in a very dynamic mix. The build is very engaging.
Well done!

Yep, Danny Rader really does sound like he's having fun in that guitar solo. Pity he'll probably never hear it! … There are no steel drums there though, just marimba and kalimba working together,

Muchas in the key of gracias. Oddly, someone else, probably on another site, mentioned 'latin', but I only feel that in the percussion.
