BiaB is a great tool for trying very different styles. It's nice pass time to play to be a producer. This time that world music style fits the baritone sax solo. So you didn't play yourself on any tracks?

Awesome work Mike!

You always do such a tremendous job constructing these tunes using Realtracks!
You've got jazz running through your veins!
It's a very enjoyable feel-good track that ended too soon!

Take care, TB

Hi guys, thanks for the nice comments. One thing is not true, I don't play any tracks. Unfortunately, my instrument of choice has always been the drums and miscellaneous percussion instruments, but it is true that I have jazz running thru my veins since I was very young, most kids were listening rock when I was listening to Big Band sound. The odd ball.
Thanks again

Mike B.

Mike, super tune. Like the outside feel that curls back to familiar themes for the listener. Nicely arranged and mixed, too. Cool change of pace from what I've listened to of yours, and I like it a lot!

Hey Mike..I’m going to say that the phrase that came to mind while listening was “everything but the kitchen sink”! I appreciate what you did, but to my taste it was too much clutter. What I mean to say was that there were so many nice and interesting bits that I wish I had a clearer “listen” to each one before the next pleasing (but different) sound cut in. If I had my druthers, this would be a longer piece that let each sound/soloist have a little more of their own space. Anyway, I liked the overall creative use of all the BIAB tools. Thanks for posting it!

Mike, you liked it because it sounded good. I liked it because it sounded great.
BiaB can lead us in many directions can't it.
As usual great work with RTs and mixing.

"I have jazz running thru my veins since I was very young"

We would certainly have guessed that given the stellar BiaB jazz productions you have posted.
And this is another one. That sax is cooking.

Excellent band and mix!

It was fresh to my ears and I think breaking rules inspires innovation. Eclectic and really loved the "mm" which tied it all together.

Oh, what was that Miles Davis tune where the bass plays a fourth up or down (can't remember which direction) from the rest of the players? This one is so cool, Mike. Excellent choice of instruments and you mix them so pleasingly. I particularly like the baritone sax.

Enjoy whatever happens!

I'm glad to see the Chinese RTs get some use. Sort of busy, but points for experimentation. Keep at it.

A nice jazz piece and I particularly like your rhythm section choices.
Assuming it's not deliberate, you've made a common error in the title as the opposite of Yang is Yin, not Ying. The Tao symbol is often called the Yin-Yang, but as said, it's a common error and I've even heard it spoken as Ying in TV series where the writers are unfamiliar with the Yin.

Cubanpete-

I lived in Asia (Korea and Japan) for 5 years while in the Army. On one occasion, my jazz combo had the pleasure of accompanying a Shakahachi and Koto duo. They send the duo sheet music and we wrote an arrangement. Was a really cool evening. I love how jazz assimilates sounds and ideas from so many cultures. I also love that you are making brave music and making the musical gumbo.

First of all, thanks for your service. Sometimes I like to experiment with different sounds, if it works, I post it, otherwise I scrap it. I'm glad you like it and identified with it.
