Anybody else noticed 2025 loading slow and taking longer to get a song ready to play? I know they've added a bunch of styles and Real Tracks in 2025 (my last was 2021). Was thinking it might be my processor is old and slow (AMD E1-2500) but I've got plenty of RAM and loads of HD space. Might be time for a new machine.

Skip.

here bb loads in a few secs.
if your interested in a new pc see my tips in the tips forum to save me retyping pages. ...ie...acquiring a pc for music production.

sorry to say..yep your current processor has very poor single thread performance for music production..page down the following link right hand side...

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+E1-2500+APU

i recommend a single thread score above 3000...in addition your current processor has a low math score;. music production means lots of math being done.
anyhoo see my tips in the tips forum includeing under 200 bucks fast refurb pc's.

note you dont need to spend a fortune.
awhile back i got a new ryzen pc thats fast...up to 4.2 ghz...that cost only a few hundred bucks.

hth.

That processor is 13 years old .. probably about time to upgrade.
It doesn't owe you anything if it is still running.

Over the last couple of years, improvements in BIAB (notably the regeneration speed), require even more CPU power than ever before. Plus, BIAB is not like other programs. If you want to choose one thing to spend money on, it would be the CPU.

BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

If you like AMD processors (and who doesn't) the Ryzen 5's I've used work well with the newer versions.
No need to spend more on 7 or 9 ..

Just about any modern CPU will be way faster than what he's got. I'd choose something in the middle like an i5 or Ryzen 5, then focus on storage - a decent large NVMe SSD will help immensely - and again, anything there will surpass what he's got, so there's no need to go for the fastest.

Sadly, in the computer world, things move fast. What is today's amazingly fast processor is next weeks also ran.

I have several DAWs and when I bought or built them, they were state of the art and among the fastest available. They still work and run smoothly. However, they are not the fastest machines compared to what is available in stores now.

I watch the tutorial videos and see how fast the video creator's machine is handling the software and processing the data, and I see it do it's thing almost instantly. Then as I replicate that same exact thing on my machine with the same software version and the same function execution and it takes my machine 5 to 10 seconds..... Well.... I don't feel like buying a new machine and doing all the software transfers along with the keys and authentication required, not counting do I need to do an upgrade of the software to even run it on a new machine..... Last upgrade I did, I literally had to upgrade ALL of the software to run it ......32 bit to 64 bit.

So..... as long as I can still run the software and get the end results I want, I'm totally good with waiting a couple of seconds for files to load and screens to change.

You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

In many cases that might simply be the "magic of cinema" - I can't speak for every single video, but at least for the ones I've made I often speed up some things, since watching a progress bar or waiting for something to happen doesn't exactly make for a particularly entertaining tutorial video.
