I think this is possible, but don't understand how to go about it. Thanks for any help.  Goal: I am taking a Bass Guitar instructional course. I am provided with BB files for each study "song" with a style and the right chords provided. The goal is for me to practice my bass lines over the song. So, can I record my bass through my interface into the song on some type of BB track? If, so how? Then, can I change everything to a waveform view so I can see precisely visually whether I am ahead, on, or behind the beats by looking how precisely my notes hit the pulse waveforms precisely? This would be to really hone in on my timing and see where I might be off (that I cannot hear). Can all of this be done directly in BB and not have to go to my DAW (Reaper)? Thanks for any help if this might work out!

Yes. You can record directly into BIAB through your interface. Record into Band in a Box

Thanks Charlie. My new project, along with a bass guitar course I am taking, is to get the real recorded song I am learning a bass line to, bring it into BB, use the stem splitter, use the chord wizard to analyze the chords, manually tap out bar lines at the downbeats, equalize the tempo, clean up the chord chart (which is usually not accurate at all), then mute the bass line and then record in my own bass line. Whew! What an exercise. I am finding that doing this all in BB is much better that SongMaster Pro whose section analysis is awful and very hard to manipulate. With this new splitter function in BB, BB is becoming a great song manipulation learning tool. I have also found that the tempo mapping is far easier than doing in my DAW (Reaper). Just tap "L" key along with the beat and push a button. Super simple. I am thrilled that this works smoothly in BB and you get a chord chart as well that is synced with the recording. It is all becoming pretty complete. Cool stuff.

Moonbeam9067, What a great Band-in-a-Box testimonial. In a short amount of time you've learned how to use more Band-in-a-Box features than I have after using Band-in-a-Box for a loooong time. Very impressive! Have you considered making a video testimonial for PG Music? I'm sure they would appreciate it.
