Hello forum friends, This is my second post of the year. This song is one of the songs we recorded during our music circle's winter recording session. This is a collaboration with other members. Tsuyoshi Tamada wrote the lyrics and sang the song, I composed the music, and Sayuri Yahagi (still in her 30s) arranged it. As I get older, I find it harder to write lyrics and it becomes a chore to write scores. So this time I asked my friends to write the lyrics and arrange it. They are very reliable friends. The music was performed by Yamaha teachers. This time too, I have prepared a live band version and a BIAB version. The BIAB RealTracks Instrumental version was created for lyricist to write the lyrics and for vocalist to learn the melody. Now I would like to introduce it to you. Any comments encouraged. Always welcome. Best Regards. Shigeki Adachi Title: Ballad 〜暮色のカフェから〜(Translation: Ballad - From the Cafe at Dusk) Link of Live Band Version by Yamaha Teachers: https://soundcloud.com/animarorecords/at-the-cafe-at-duskVocal: Tsuyoshi Tamada, my music circle friend Accompanied by Yamaha Teachers Following additional VST instruments played with EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Ist Violins, 2nd Violins, Violas, Cellos and Oboe Scored by Sayuri Yahagi, my music circle friend Link of RealTracks Version: https://soundcloud.com/animarorecords/ballad-from-the-cafe-at-duskStyle is _SJAZBL2.STY Smooth Jazz Ballad w/Electric Guitar RealTracks in style: 908:Bass, Electric, SmoothBallad Ev16 065 RealTracks in style: 910:Piano, Electric, Rhythm SmoothBallad Ev16 065 RealTracks in style: 1072:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm SmoothJazzBallad Ev16 065 RealDrums in Style: SmoothJazzBallad^1-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride Summary of lyrics The autumn wind is starting to blow In the cafe on the street where dusk is falling Since the time I broke up with you The clock inside me has just been ticking away the empty time The sea we saw side by side And the starry sky that seems within reach Now just shine sadly in the corner of my heart I only loved you deeply If it were possible I would like to return to the day we met And fill it with brilliance Gently wipe away your tears with my fingers. Your voice laughing brightly With a glass of Chianti and a candle. Now it has faded far away And the clock is just ticking away the empty time. The melody I sang with you Is flowing from somewhere A bygone illusion is melting into the twilight Every time I see a figure that looks similar to you A sad feeling crosses my mind But now it's time to move forward I'll start walking away from my restraints of our memories While pushing the big door to open

Lovely tune! Know the RT version is for demonstration purposes, but it sounds quite nice, and does a great job supporting your melodies. The Yamaha Teachers really do a SUPER job interpreting your tune, as did the other collaborators. Must be very satisfying to watch a musical idea come to life like this. Enjoyed it very much!

Great job, Shigeki, you're on your own plateau with these elaborate arrangements. Really enjoyed this, many nice touches for the listener to enjoy. And good lyrics, too!

Shigeki..I listened to both versions. You are a master architect! I appreciated the 3-note motif at the end of your phrases, repeated against different harmonies. While I didn’t understand the singing, it’s clear that you gave the lyricist a very accommodating structure to work with, and an excellent result emerged. Each time I listen, I hear how you are honoring the great tradition of song craftsmanship. This was both a pleasure and a lesson for me!

Hi, Shigeki. FIrst of all, I really like the song pic on the live one. Pretty much how I pictured it.
I listened before reading what you wrote, and it didn't take me long to think, "That doesn't sound like Shigeki's score." Still, there is your gifted writing and production, and your influence is instilled in all.
I particularly like the RT version because it hits us right away with that cool melody. Thanks for posting them both. I like to listen how the song progressed with the shared talents. Man, I really like that melody and when the words came and the singing came and the orchestra came, it grew into this cool song. Well done, my firend.

Shigeki, I listened first to the live version then to part of the RT version. I liked the live version best. That EastWest Orchestra sounded great. The mix was excellent.

Brilliant orchestration and arrangement. Production and mix is 100% pro. Pleasant melody and chord changes. Sounds like a Richard Carpenter production (which is a huge compliment) I listened to both versions that you posted ... and did not hear much difference?

In order for teachers to perform the pieces, I have to write out the score and create the parts. Even using music notation software, writing 40 pages of music is a lot of work. For this recording session, I recorded two songs, so I asked a friend at the Circle to help with one of them. I am always very encouraged by your kind words.
Best regards.

You have the amazing ability to bring these instrumentals to life, to take them into a further dimension.
This is no exception. Very pleasant indeed.
