This is another repost from six years ago. I was new to the forum at the time, so I think most folks haven't heard this one. This is vintage soul. I used the Soul 60s RTs, 1570 to 1578, and the sax was RT 1956. The horns were done by a guy named Tommy Leb. I did a version with BIAB horns and it's surprisingly good, but Tommy's were perfect. The vocals were by a fiverr guy, Stephane Comeau, who has sung many times for me and is really good.

Lyrics:

I love my baby like a good man should, she gives me everything that I need
Sometimes she gives me a little too much to handle, she's hard to read now
Does she love me or some other guy?
The things that she does right in front of my eyes!
I gotta step back, give my feelings some play
Then I tell her with affection that I mean what I say

Now Baby you know that you're mine
And I know you think that you're fine
That every guy who sees you, would love to try and please you
Make you feel so very fi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yine
Have your fun but know, too
There is nothing that's better than me and you oh
I know that I'm yours, I'm never unsure
And baby you know that you're mine

Our love's a good one, it's a beautiful thing
I don't want to make out like it's not
Maybe my baby needs to be reassured
What she had when we met, she's still got
Whatever makes her a little risque
That very same thing thrills me every day!
I've come to accept it, it's just her own style,
And that I'll be telling her every once in a while

I've never heard this one . . . glad you re-posted as there is so much cool stuff going on in here. The horns are sensational; the lead vocal is just awesome--perfect fit for the song. And the overall production is aces. Very, very cool tune!!

I really like this style and it's perfect. The rhythm, the brass and the singing are all good. A totally successful return to the past.

Oh, yeah, Bob, Tommy Lebs horns were the first thing that made me stand and listen. Perect indeed. The vocal is really good -- what a range. Such a good song, Bob. Love the 60s Motor City sound with a little Brotherly Love mixed in. Man, this is so much better than almost all the songs on the hit parade back then.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Bob, nice write that crisply captures the style. Super vocal performance, and those horns are definitely a perfect match. That bass is really clicking, too. Great job!

Great song and mix. The horns are outstanding, plus Stephane Comeau's vocals are absolutely perfect for the job. I'm so glad you mentioned he's on Fiverr - or at least I hope he still is - as I've got at least one song he'd be perfect for.

This is a winner! I absolutely love the arrangement and especially the Brass section.
Those RT's are amazing and I believe you got the very best out Biab. One of my favorites from Biab. Loved the lyrics/vox as well.

Waoband,

Stephane is still on fiverr, but he is usually not taking on any work, presumably because his own music takes up his time. You have to check back regularly and hope you get lucky. I hope you are able to connect with him.
