I couple of years back, my wife (Eileen) went on a pilgrimage of discovery to Ireland to find her roots. This song was written during that trip, expressing my impressions of the wonderful People and Country.
Ahh! The colourful side of Ireland is well presented here. I toured there for a few months with the band in the mid '60's with another band called "The Dubliners", before they became more famous. Had a great time but never could take to the Guinness. The Dubliners could though, every time we passed a pub they knew on the way to a gig they would stop the tour van and we'd all get out and sample the stuff. We were often late, arriving at the gig. .There were also times they would stop the van for some political argument to be settled, but that's another story.
What a great tribute to the fine folk of Ireland. Cool video, too. 3/4 is a perfect drinking tempo. Love that chorus --singable by the whole gang at the bar. Always like it when you're in there singing, Elliott.
