This is a song for a friend who passed away in 2020 at the age of 58. He was a great surgeon, both in stature and talent. I was fortunate to work with him for two years. He was passionate about his profession, kind, and full of humor. He was swept away by cancer in just two years. Life sometimes doesn't give you a break. This song is for him.

Very fascinating, full of lush, otherworldly sound textures…great tribute to your friend. I especially liked the arpeggiated piano (not sure if that was in the style)..and, at the end, those much denser chords for emphasis…I could learn much from listening to this…thanks so much for posting.

Laurent, lovely tune. The ambient FX on the lead instruments and the atmospheric backing provide a warm embrace for the listener. A very skillfully composed remembrance.

This is an exceptionally nice tribute to your friend. As previously mentioned by an earlier reply, this is very lush. You have created a very full soundscape.
Your choice of lead instruments fits the style perfectly. This is a wonderful piece of music. Congratulations on a job well done. Your music is always among the best songs on the forum.
My granddaughter and I are both 12-year cancer survivors. We're among the fortunate ones. We were in chemo at the same time.
Beautiful plaintive song and a truly worthy tribute to a friend. The trumpet, tin whistle and guitar solos are perfect for the piece - the tin whistle has such a nice sound it deserves a better name! Superb nix and production. A really excellent instrumental.

A beautiful and passionate piece of work... Really lovely.

Thanks, Bob, and I wanted to mention and thank the musicians on the tracks. Horn: Ron King (fabulous). Piano: Miles Black. Tin Whistle: Geoffrey Kelly. Drum: Mike Clark Laurent

Thanks for the feedback. I think I only kept the drums from the original style and went on to take other tracks in a similar style that I also liked. When I mixed the piano and trumpet, I thought it sounded very good. Ron King(Horn) and Miles Black(Piano) are incredible musicians. Laurent
A worthy tribute. Wow, that is so young for someone so needed. How ironic and cruel life can be. This was a fine, contemplative piece, I enjoyed it a great deal.

Thank you, Alan, for your warm comments, and let's protect our most precious asset: our health. Laurent
Oh, I read the title and was gonna start here with a flippant comment, but the sadness of your description erases the idea. Such beautiful yet somber chords structure. That horn is dripping in sadness and I love the music you surround it with. That guitar reaches to the heavens. Very touching music. Beautiful tribute, Laurent.
Enjoy whatever happens! marty

Nice tribute to your friend (58 is way too young), I especially like the flute (?) part, which adds a beautiful melancholy note to the whole song.
Thanks, B.D.Thomas. For the flute, I used Sforzando (Tin Whistle), which is in Band in a Box. I worked on the pitch bend in Cubase to add a bit of realism. Laurent
