I'm having the same problem with Cakewalk and the plugin. When I try to use it in Cakewalk I get a notice that says:"The following VST plug-in failed to load c:\program files\common files\VST3 Plugin.vst3 Band-in-a Box DAW VST3 Plugin" I've never had this happen before, but I admit I wasn't a big fan of the plug-in in years past. Any ideas to get this to work?

Are you using the 2025 Plugin ? you can try the VST2 version. Another option is use Free Element VST load that then load or drag n drop the VST2/VST3 into it enabling the EXT button top left to let it sync. You are in the Mac Plugin forum also.

Any ideas to get this to work? Try installing the latest patch, even if you already have it installed: https://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm#1128Make sure Cakewalk is closed when you do. When it's installing, it will prompt you to install the latest DAW plugin. If this doesn't help, try it again but when the plugin installer pops up select the first VST2 option. Then when you try again in Cakewalk there should be an option to run the VST2 version instead of VST3 - this may work better.

Thank you everyone for your help. I've reinstalled both the VST3 version and the VST2 version. I can't find the VST2 version listed in any Common folder, so I'm assuming that when I downloaded the latest VST2 version it didn't work even though the installer seemed to work without a problem. So I think I'm probably through trying to work with this plugin that used to install in Cakewalk but doesn't now.

The VST2 plugin can be installed to anywhere you choose, though by default it will install into C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins. Other common places to look are:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VSTPlugins
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins
Most likely Cakewalk isn't looking in the right place - you should be able to add whichever location you installed to from Cakewalk's Preferences under VST Settings.

Sonny Ray’s case is one of those classic plugin install headaches. He probably just needs to point Cakewalk to the actual VST2 path in Preferences → File → VST Settings. If it’s not scanning the right folder, it won’t show up even if it’s installed correctly. Also, enabling plugin scan on startup sometimes helps.

Thank you UWI. It's been so long since I added any new plugins that I'd forgot about the Cakewalk Preferences/VST scanning option. I just ran the option and - yup - there was the BIAB plugin. Thanks again, problem solved.
