Hi All,

Here's our latest. This is called MIXTAPE.

I’ve got some Dylan
Some Velvet Underground
“Chelsea Girls”
On this mixtape I found
Ribbon on a reel
My life in sound
Yeah ribbon on a reel
My life in sound

I’ve got some Bowie
From the old “Low” days
The thin white lines
And the foggy haze
The songs get played
Then fade away
Yeah the songs get played
Then fade away

I’ve got some Patti
Singing “Dream Of Life”
She’s howling out dreams
Into the deep dark night
It feels so alive
So it’s alright
Yeah it feels so alive
So it’s alright

I’ve got some Leonard
On this old Walk Man
He comes up after Joni
“So Long Marianne”
Such a heartbreak
Guess he wasn’t her man
Yeah such a heartbreak
Guess he wasn’t her man

Cause that’s my life
This mixtape I found
Yeah that’s my life
My replay life in sound
Cause that’s my life
This mixtape I found
Yeah that’s my life
My replay life in sound

Another brilliant song, lyrically and every-which-way. Joliz singing harmony all the way through is perfect. It instantly put me into nostalgia mode as I must have at least 150 old compilation tapes which I've not been able to listen to in the last 3 years as one of the many things which went wrong in The Year of My SNAFU Catch 2022 - the year I had to move from a large apartment into this minuscule retirement flat - is that when I first set up my decades old hi-fi system here it only played for a couple of minutes before blowing and as yet I've not found a decent replacement! But I just won't throw away all of those old tapes. I still make compilations on my PC and I have one of VU Nico's songs, plus of course "Sunday Morning". That's the kind of song I think you'd do an excellent cover of.

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi Bob!
The theme of music we have loved holding our memories and experiences is a good one. There are certain songs in my life that can trigger a memory. I’m not sure if you intended it, but I found the repeating chord sequence to support the idea of the tape reels going round and around. The constancy of Joliz’s harmony vocal had the same effect. The slow fade out also painted a picture of the life continuing and the tape keeping rolling.

A most enjoyable song!

Bob, this is a great idea for a song. You always make think back to the early 70’s when I spent some months in NYC riding the subway and hanging in the Village. You are a true artist who embodies the place you’re from. Once again a portrait of words and sounds. So very well done! Tom

Bob and Joliz, an excellent song that most of us can relate.
Excellent vocals and lyrics
Great backing tracks and mix
An outstanding song.

Love this man!

This may be my favorite of yours.

The sound is gorgeous, lyrics great, and your voice is warm and melodic and smooth (not strained) and fits in perfectly. Album ready. Maybe the title track.

Has a lot of nuance bro. More of this please. Now your talking.

It's a fab song & the lyric talks directly to me.
I'm not sure that a 100% duet ballad was the way to go but that's a matter for me.

Gosh, Rob. You've been hitting them out of the park. This was beautiful. Lovely feel and band. To my ears and set up, Joliz sounds just a tad too far front, but other than that, great song. I might have to steel your track choices for a future endeavor.

Bob,
Interesting collaboration. While it has a lot of contrast between vocal styles, it listens well. Solid mix.
The only critical suggestion, it starts a bit abruptly. I would give it 1 or 2 seconds of silence before tune starts.
Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

Thanks Andrew & Beth. Yes, that chord sequence helped to drive the "tape" feel. I was looking for something a bit repetitious.

Winning lyrics again, Bob.
Vocals a little out of sync but you can fix that in your own time.

Beautiful, genuinely beautiful. The lyrics stand out, too. Watch out for the tuning between the two voices, that's all ... on their own, they'd probably be fine, but, somehow, when together, sometimes it sounds a little out of tuning sync, if that makes sense. But, otherwise ... a great job - bravi smile

You two make some real fine music! This song will conjure different memories for each listener. I think it's good when the lyric or melody of a song is open to personal reflection. That certainly makes it a song that a wide audience of tastes can latch onto.

It's always a pleasure to click on to one of your tracks.

Alan

Hi, Bob.

As usual, a song that takes me places. Interesting how we tie other's stories to out own, as the song points out.

Excellent. smile
