This is a politically motivated song, although, to reassure you, quite light-hearted. I also want to introduce you to Tamar Bannink, who sang on the background vocals. It was our first time we sang together. She can sing sooo high, so I was a bit afraid our vocals didn't match, but I think they do. And friends thought so too. So it's up to you then...
I also made a video on YouTube, even more light-hearted, especially at the end. I don't know how to add that link without getting a big screen of it, but here it is: The lyrics are in the video.

Hey, Tamar really adds a cool dimension to this, Hans. I've listened to this one a bunch of times already, and it seems to get better each time. I really enjoyed your around-the-world disappointment with so-called leadership. It would make an interesting story if it wasn't true. Man, this is an outstanding production, and I thoroughly enjoy the video. Well said, but sad it needs saying.
Hi Hans! A great song and love the beat of it; the guitar solo; and Tamar's vocals fit right it. I think you'll be safe with Canada as home, or Australia or New Zealand. Andrew D
Hans, super production, as always. You always come up with great sounds and great hooks, and this is no exception. Have always enjoyed your vocal arrangements and layering, but Tamar really adds an extra sparkle. A nice add. Crisply mixed and mastered, too.
A song with a message AND a surprise punchline. PLUS you can dance to it. I give it a...TEN!!!

Thanks for your comments and watching that video. I told you it would end funny (or maybe serious...?) And you know what was so funny? The song was almost finished with a normal ending. I wasn't satisfied with it, but then suddenly I got a brainwave: Canada!!! Exactly as it is in the song now, but with Tamar and that map included. Marty, I appreciate all you wrote extra. I have bothered you so much with my previous concepts. I could imagine that you could hardly bring yourself to listen again. That is why I asked Tamar to sing along.
Great rock song with aggression, you speak directly not bowing to anyone, I appreciate it, but I hope you won't get into troubles But luckily you have also a good sense of humor and the end really made me laugh, South Canada salutes you
Excellent instrumentation, powerful rock with pleasant funk flavors, effective piano and strong drum hits. Great mix. Enjoyable vocals and Tamar really brings another dimension to your music, you really sound great together with similar angry tone.
This has commercial appeal and should be a hit everywhere in the world, including Russia, China and USA!
I love the music in and the production of this song, Hans, but I'm glad you ended on a light note re Canada. If I was to write a political song it would likely be titled something like "There Ain't No Good Guys In White Hats Anymore", or "No Government Is Pro-Democracy." Humans are adept at putting the secondary first and the primary last, or ignoring it altogether, governments and the MSM adept at this. A simple example is that the usual definition of democracy is "government by the people for the people" when putting the primary first would make it "government FOR the people, by the people, but what we have in our faux democracies is government for the banks, the mega corporations and the super-rich by the elite who are funded by the former. In a government FOR the people there'd be no such thing as homelessness and our illnesses wouldn't be seen as economic phenomena to make massive profits from. "There Ain't No Good Guys In White Hats Anymore" (if ever).
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.
Hans, Very cool collaboration. Yours and Tamar vocals are so different, yet work very effective together. Funny-sad storyline. Don't get me started... Your arrangement and mixing skills grow exponentially. Very clever production. Listens well and thank you for sharing!
Hans, your latest offering is a triumph of sound. The arrangement is masterful, the production impeccable, creating a sonic landscape that's both exhilarating and immersive. It's a track that commands attention from the opening bars and maintains its grip until the very last note.
Having said that, even someone as blissfully detached from political realities as myself couldn't help but find a deeper resonance. The song speaks, I think, to the precarious state of democracy in the world. It serves as a potent reminder of the vigilance required to safeguard our freedoms and a testament to the importance of seeking, or perhaps forging, spaces where those values can truly flourish. Ultimately, "Gotta Get Going" is a compelling blend of sonic power and thoughtful message - a true musical tour de force." Hans, congratulations! I love it !!!! 💗 ✔️✔️ 👍 👋 🆗
Beautiful, different and funny - I _definitely_ enjoyed it. And the funny video supports the song perfectly. The Gulf of Canada cracked me up... Well done, Hans
Thanks so much for your reactions on this song. It took me a while to respond, but a week ago I got pneumonia. That wasn't so nice, but I survived!!! Think I have to move to Canada?

Hello Andrew, I'm not sure about Australia, cause my sister lives there and barely survived a cyclone. Also New Zealand has it's drawbacks. They say vulcano's getting more active overthere... Maybe the Netherlands? We're almost getting rid of the right wing parties... But thanks for your compliments on the song itself. It was Tamars' first...

Hi Ron, yes, one have to dance when the bad world is closing in. But I'm very proud you gave me a 10 for the song! Even my cheeks coloured red (a bit)! I don't think that's because of that pneumonia. I had no fever, only very tired...

Hi Bob, yes it is. But from you as the most talented writer of lyrics around here, it feels even more special! Thank you! Oh, and I told Tamar what you said. She is walking around like a proud peacock...
Thank you all for your comments and waiting so long for an answer. In my post above this one, I wrote about the reason why (pneumonia), but now I'm on my feet again! But of course I enjoyed your writings. And as the days go by, times become more and more worrying...

Hi Janne, Tamar was very happy with your comment. She isn't used to this attentions (yet). And I? I still enjoy all comments. And yours are wonderful! But I do not agree with one thing: the 'angry' tone in my voice. It isn't. More a bit desperate, until the solution at the end. But your last line is my favorite. But I fear that will not happen. My son went to China (Hongkong) yesterday, but for savety reasons he erased this song from his phone!!! And maybe in more countries this can be the case. So no hit, I'm afraid.

Hello Wao, thanks for your compliments on the song. And about Canada, yes, the song was finished, but one morning, still in bed, I thought I should change that ending. And when I saw that picture of 'great' Canada, I knew how. Your thoughts about how to write a political song are certainly good thoughts, but I also want to keep it away from being too heavy. We need humor as long as possible, especially in dark times like these (and that to come). But I invite you to make that 'White hats' song!

Hi Misha, yes her and my vocals differ a lot, not only because she's a woman and I'm not, but her vocals are very high. The first time she came singing in my studio, I had serious doubts if our vocal would match. But surprisingly they did. We will do some more songs! And about Great Canada, how south will you want to live? The Canada canal?

Hello Izzy, I think I start with saying "Wow" about your remarks! Of course I earned them, but seeing these words on you pc... Well that makes a difference. Thanks for that. Still, I think many people are hesitant to commit to this song. Of course Russians and Chinese most of all, but Americans are also becoming increasingly uncomfortable. And that is the saddest part of these new times. But I enjoy that 10!!!

Hey Brain, I even read that I made you laugh out loud. Well, that's the greatest achievement I could have with you. But I also had to laugh seeing that 'Canada canal'. It was a funny picture that came just in time. Thanks again!
Well everyone, thanks again for your thoughts and let's try to laugh every now and then as we try to get things back on track. Hans
The ending scene in the video was priceless, Hans. Thanks for giving us a little humor to help with the current state of world affairs.
Yours and Tamar’s voices combined well. She does indeed sing high and she has the kind of attitude in her vocal that reminded us of some of Mick Jagger when he sings falsetto.
Great band and mix.
Well done! J&B

Hi Scott, Janice and Bud, Thanks for your nice comments on the song. I told Tamar about your compliments; she shines for more than a week now. So I told her to train for an octave lower...
And J&B, if she reminds you of Mick Jagger and his falsetto vocals, I think we need a little chat about your memory or ears, but Tamar liked the compliment!
