Hi Music Lovers,

UPDATE: I uploaded a new version based on David Cuny's two suggestions. I also used a plugin (Vocal Rider) he recommended to even out the vocals. Much improved! Thanks, David!

Had to get this one out of my system. Wrote the lyrics back in 2021, so quite happy to have it "done". Let me know what you think. Does the banjo work? As always, thanks for your listens and feedback.

This is my life
I’ll live it my way
You’re free to choose
if you go or stay

You beg me to be here
then you shut me out
It doesn’t make sense
and it fills me with doubt

You’re wearing me out
You’re wearing me down
You’re wearing me thin
nobody can win
You’re wearing me out
You’re wearing me out

You make me a friend
you say never say die
What kind of friend
makes another friend cry

I chase you down tunnels
Defend what I say
You make up arguments
to prove your own way

[chorus]

it’s not black or white
it’s not either or
it doesn’t really matter
when we reach the end
when we come to the end

[chorus]

I like your song _despite_ the Banjo (whenever I hear a Banjo I want to reach for a pair of wire cutters grin, so it has nothing to do with your song in particular).
But your vocals, the guitars and the piano more than make up for it.

Ya know, I use to have that same feeling about banjo. Now I love it...as long as it's in a song that wouldn't necessarily have banjo in it to begin with. Go figure! Thanks for listening!

Beth,

This is excellent. Love the song, banjo and the mix is great. Very cool lyrics.

Your vocal here is outstanding - one of your very best.

YES! The banjo was a cool choice. I probably wouldn't thought of it, but it fits perfectly. Love this song, Beth, and you sing it so well. You really have a good range and a tremendous feel in your voice. Definitely not worn out. smile Good band, arrangement and mix, too.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi, Beth.

Nice song - glad you got it finished. The lyrics are to the point, and I like the banjo on the intro.

My only thought is I'd like to have had the bridge more sparse - drums and that held guitar strum are all it needs to back up that vocal and give it focus. Move the really cool piano break at 2:32 at the end of the near 2:39 where it could stand alone with no other instruments playing, and then bring the chorus in with a bang. That's my feedback, worth half what you paid for it! wink

I enjoyed listening!

The banjo actually fits way better than I expected, gives it a cool, different vibe. Lyrics are super relatable too, you can feel the emotion.

Impressive instrumentation and mix in the rhythm section - I think the banjo works fine. Great song with a catchy chorus. The banjo and piano solo is a nice idea, but it breaks the flow.

GOOOD ONE.
Banjo - just another colour but some folk are colour sensitive.

Bonjour
je trouve l'intro et l'intermède avec le banjo particulièrement réussie. Le reste de la chanson est également très bien réalisé et très bien chanté.

Great song, sung well. The banjo was an eclectic choice and I loved it. Terrific work, Tilted Halo!

Beth - as others have said - love the banjo part, coupled with the piano - both playing 16th notes - it underscores the theme and paints a slight ‘hectic’ feel to support the theme of the lyrics. The chord progression the banjo and piano are played over is a good diversion from the chorus as well. #addedtomySCplaylist

Your vocals are very good and your phrasing very effective on the “wearing me out/down” sections.
We also liked the way you sound more exasperated with each chorus.

Like the band and piano and the banjo solo, although is busy, works to give the feel of being worn down.

We enjoyed it and hope you feel lots better having gotten it out of your system!😊
