Hi All,

David Cuny was kind enough to work on Awaken so I could put a decent version of it with a video. Here's the original version if anyone cares to compare. And here's the video with his tweaked version:

Awaken on Youtube

He worked on leveling the vocals, pushed my entry to the beat, and ran a plug-in (or two). Maybe he'll chime in with the details of what he did. He did share all that with me over time but I've lost track as to what stayed and what got tossed!

Beth, this is fantastic.
Whatever David did he took your great song and made it a masterpiece.
Great video

Hi Beth! I love the busyness of the bass and rhythm guitars contrasted with the longer notes of the vocal. I’ve listened to both versions and can see how your vocals have been made more prominent with good balance between lead and backing vocals. I’m not sure if I missed it on the original, but love the minor chord leading into the chorus - is it a minor iv? This is a great song and a good listen! I’m adding this to my SC playlist - will you put the new version on SC?

If you like the style of your song, it reminds me a song by a NZ band: ‘Northern Lights’ by Goldenhorse - different song but similar style.

Listening to the first version again, it's a really excellent song all around and your vocals are excellent, the only aspect of it I'm not keen on is the rhythm guitar in the left channel.
Oh! Now listening to the video and was surprised to find that choppy rhythm guitar again, though it does sound better in this version. The most noticeable difference is the production quality of the song and particularly your vocals. Just love the song all around.
But whaddaya doin' on YouTube? You'll have cookies chasing you now! crazy
I watched the "Strange Alchemy" video, too. Another first class song!

Thanks Andrew! I'm not familiar with Goldenhorse. I'll check 'em out. I might upload a new version to Soundcloud...not sure as it would take up bandwidth and I'm on the free version.

Beth, this sounds amazing! Splendid production, tip of the hat to David. Of course great sound is just that without a great song...and you've got one! Cool upbeat message with a driving beat and soaring melody. Nice. My favorite part is your vocal arrangement. Really a master class in using harmonies and BGVs to support a song's dynamic flow.

Love everything about this song though. smile

Your song is perfectly accompanied by the beauty of Mother Nature.
We were reminded of many of our walks and the feeling of peace amidst the flora and fauna.
Yes, we are all one!

The vocal arrangement is really good.

Enjoyed it!

P.S. We love the video ending scene.

I'd like to thank Beth for her generosity in letting me make adjustments to her song.

It was a lot of fun to work with, and other than balancing the vocals, other changes were just minor tweaks.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The tweaked version is crisper and cleaner and gives your vocal a more professional sound. Your BGVs sound soooo good! Excellent song.

That is a good mix.... it took a few seconds or so to get used to the hard panned guitar.... but all in all, a nice mix. The vocals reminded me of the Bee Gees in a few places. Falsetto and heavy controlled vibrato.

I enjoyed the listen.
