i originally put this song in off topic for critique as it didnt use all pg products and i wasnt sure it was good enough for user showcase even tho' various non pg people had told me they liked it at various times.
(im always full of doubt on my song efforts as there are soooo many gifted people on pg here and elsewhere and the song didnt use all pg content just powertracks and a small studio....no bb involved.)

so i was pretty surprised when a few pg users after i posted the link in off topic said i should post it in the showcase here. which i pondered as i thought they might be just being nice and i'm constantly busy these days...
but what the hey...be as critical as you want....here goes..lol.

link...

https://soundcloud.com/alfsongs/a-man-and-a-woman-c-alfsongs

Details.

1..use good quality earbuds/iem's. i used a more MOR vocal style and not my evil hard rock style of vocal i reserve for hard core rock....lmao.
my wife says i'm like jekyll and hyde...lol.
2..various people seem to like it even tho it wasnt done in a zillion buck studio.
3..song came about because often in my travels people have said to me...
'how come i cant meet THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE '.
thus the song idea was born.
4..the song is also about my wife and myself which is a lovely love story.
5..note the comedy in the song...listen for the bass player..
around 1min28secs...lol. lots of fun.

im sure lots of couples (hopefully) will identify with the lyrics as they travel thru life together and loving each other thru lifes ups and downs.

the song was done when i was recording in various commercial studios and at the same time showing various studios the power of pg powertracks which i still rate highly due its cost viz features.

kudos/shout out to pg and Jeff Y who created the powertracks app cos it saved me tons of money mapping out songs in commercial studios much as i liked those beautifull studios.

anyhoo thanks to anyone that might listen.
apologies if you dont like it.

frankly i dont know how to classify the song as to genre.
any ideas ?? romantic pop maybe ?
i would love to know what any reviewer thinks the music genre it fits into.
(its quite a fast tempo.)

happiness.

om, as I said on the Off Topic forum this is an outstanding song
Great vocal and lyrics
Super backing tracks and mix
This took me back to the mid 60 to the early 70's.
An outstanding song.

Really nice tune! The easy feel and playful tone remind me of some songs by Ray Davies and the Kinks. Nice backing track. Any BiaB instruments in there? Pretty sure a BiaB bass can't do what I'm hearing. Super song, you and your wife should be quite pleased.

"Old but good stuff"?
Sounds like the 60s, which is not a bad thing.
Pretty entertaining, I really enjoyed my listen.

This is giving me Door Into Summer vibes, one of my favorite songs to humbly play on my ukulele that was recorded by the Monkees. Kinda Moody Blues too. I don't know if that helps you categorize it. Can you update your post with the lyrics? It's easier for me to digest them that way.

Poppy uptempo song.

Yeah that's a cool bass track. I like the fills it's doing. 0:46 Who doesn't like a slide, or even a couple of them?

thanks to you all for listening.
much appreciated.

@DCRon. yes sorry to say no bb bass rt.
only pg product used was powertracks.
a reason why i was dubious about posting the song in the showcase
so used off topic forum.
lots of my other songs used BB rt's etc etc.
eg 'stallion' 'banker man' and loads of others ive never posted on scloud.

@BYBand. i dont normally include lyrics cos i'm a lousy typist...lol.
but once i get thru this busy week i'll try and post them.
sorry. been getting annual check ups and dealing with family etc.. phew i'm all good. always a big relief as one ages.

@GuitarHacker. yeah obviously the bass slide and the lyrics were a double entendre.

just a bit of background...details..

1..growing up in gritty east london and years after i never thought i would meet 'the one'.
at the same time east london makes a person pretty tough.
cos going to footie matches one never knew when a bundle (fight) with an opposing teams fans might break out plus in any normal day just living in east london the same.
there were even gangs of girls who were sooo blinkin tough you have no idea. even a lot of blokes were scared of them...lol.
they were that tough.
and my granny was always saying to me...
'those blinkin girls are trouble..watch out lad'.
which is why the song 'my granny told me' in my sig is about that.
in summary some of my songs reflect the gritty side of london.
heck...lol...one school initiation was to drag me through a few hedges.
all this stuff toughened me up at an early age.
sooo.
2..so by the time i met 'the one' (my wife)...
she bowled me over cos i was amazed by her character and kindness.
so the song 'a man and a woman' is very much about us and others
who have had trouble finding the right person.
in summary loooong after leaving the gritty days of east london and haveing worked all over the world i never thought it would happen to me.
frankly it was pure 'happenstance' or 'the gods deciding'....lol.
i can remember on our second date saying to her...
'i never want to lose you'.
many cherished memories.
she turned this tough east london lad into a better person imho.
i often say to her 'why the heck did you take this bad boy on'.
(she says she was tipsy when she met me...lol.)
believe it or not her work boss said to me 'you do realise every guy in this place wanted to date her you sob'...
'you had better treat her well'.

ps for any lurkers the song 'pretty girl' in my sig is about her also.

respect to you all and your talents.

happiness.

I agree with others on the forum. Definitely a 60s into early 70s vibe/

BYOBand and All.

BYOBand here are the lyrics you requested for the song.
sorry for being late....been very busy.
i wish you and all pg users and staff happiness always.

(also (thanks for listening WaoBand....much appreciated.)

LEAD INTRO.

V1.

once there was a kind and very gentle man.
but he almost lost his control.
looking for his own special lady love.
yeah he nearly lost his only soul.
yeah he nearly lost his self control.

V2.

once there was a shy and pretty lady who...
fought so hard each day for her pay.
tried to find that kind and very special man.
share a simple life along the way.
share a simple life along the way.

CHANGE.

then they came together.
life was soooo good.
when they came together. (bass 'whoa'.)

LEAD BREAK.

V3.

now they can be heard right across the land.
and many hear their songs and often say.
'just goes to show a man and woman can..
share a lot of love along the way'.
'share a lot of love along the way'.

CHANGE.

once they came together.
life was sooo good.
once they came TOGETHER...
spoken >> 'IT WAS GOOD'.

LEAD OUTTRO to Coda.

BYOBand...if you want by contrast one of my rock songs listen to 'The Stallion'.
fyi..some people sometimes get bamboozled by the different vocal styles on the songs and think its different vocallists..
but actually its only me...so you can blame me if i didnt do a good enough vocal for a song....lol.
i just like the challenges of doing many different vocal styles that fit their respective music genres. its my 'thing'.
all good fun.

ps for people interested which songs on scloud used bb/rb and pg rt artists etc ...heres a full list...feel free to lambast me on any song...lol.

'My granny told me (girls are trouble.)'
'Raceday'. a very challeging song about pro car raceing.
'Coastal Highway' about takeing ones love down the coast for a nice time.
'Grandad'. about when my grandad used to take me to soccer matches when i was a wee bairn in east london.
'Pretty Girl'. a song about my wife and respect to women everywhere.
'The Stallion'. rock song about toodling around town with ones main squeeze in a groovy car and looking cool.
i personally love the pg rock rt sound picture in this.
its blinkin great imho.
the song was a ton of work includeing finding the best pg artists to use.
'Banker Man'. my only bluegrass country song which talks about the plight of poor farmers that get their farms repossessed.
i did it for the challenge. once again lots of work as all songs are such.

i hope someone finds the above of interest.
fyi...i also have many other songs done in both commercial studios and my own.
including loads of songs whereby bb/rb (and powertraks) as well as pg artists were used. too many songs...lol.
(for best results use 'good' earbuds.)
ps...see if you can assess which songs used very expensive microphones
versus under 100 buck jobbies....lol.

happiness and great respect to all.
