Hi Beth! Good to hear a new song posted by you. This has a good calming pace to the song - your calming vocals aided by the arpeggio harp and guitar. Did I hear the tubular bells make a cameo as well? Perfect!
Lyrically, I loved the positive and encouraging nature of the words, and the stand out was the line about expectation brings suffering - it is easy to suffer under the weight of our own expectations. Going with the flow can allow one to see the good in everything.
I found the last chorus to be hypnotically soothing - really good. The interwoven counter melody in parts added to it nicely.
My only feedback is the closing minor chord - I would have expected major - but is that a musical symbol about going with the unexpected?

Beth, gorgeous song! Love the positive, meditative lyrics. Super vocals, and you use harmonies to great effect. Nice acoustic band with enough variety to keep it interesting without losing the feeling. The bell loop is used very effectively, too. The song might resolve on a Maj7 instead of Min to preserve the positivity, but that's a nit. Love it!

Beth,
An absolutely beautiful and serene song...
I love the lyrics and harmonies. I also think this is your best vocal yet.
Worth many listens.

Wow, Beth, beautiful lyrics and a beautiful song. Of course, a wonderful vocal on top of it all.

Very beautifully sounding band, I liked especially the harp and the bell and how they add to the right moments. And your voice is very expressive and emotional, lovely harmonies. Nice melody and chording support your mantra, great message that should be playing in my mind so that I could let go by thinking "expectations lead to suffering", so true, really speaks to me. Simple, yet very powerful, folk music at its finest.

Acoustic guitar, a piano and a beautiful voice are all you need. Beautiful, I especially dig your harmonies and the overall positive vibe. One day I'll probably write a positive song too. Or not

Oooo. Saw this one posted a few days ago, and had to wait until now to listen. A wonderfully positve mantra beautifully put to music and angelically sung. The best halo is tilted for sure. Love those intricate harmonies, Beth.

This is a lovely song and sentiment. Mellow and soothing indeed.
The arrangement of the vocals is excellent. And the mix set up a good soundstage on our monitors.
Nice BiaB session group also.
Well done and we enjoyed it,

SoundCloud's letting me listen in again! I found it interesting that for some time now I've very often said such as "What is, is; what ain't, ain't. What's gonna happen will happen; what won't, wont", etc. But the irony is that opposite to your lyrics since the Year of My SNAFU Catch 2022 when I had to move from a large 2 floor apartment to a way too tiny retirement flat with so much wrong with it - which I wasn't told about before moving - so much that I do doesn't work out due to unexpected Catch 22s. One example is after my PC was hacked in the Year of My SNAFU Catch 2022 the guy who sorted it all for me somehow had the PC switch stereo channels, which I only discovered by chance late last October, and that's why I'm having to channel-swap and remix everything I've posted on YouTube and elsewhere since January 2023! It was also that year my flat became haunted by the discarnate psyche of the previous tenant, a chronic alcoholic, who collapsed here from a stroke and shortly died in hospital. Why it took so long for him it to start bugging me is probably that it took him time to find his way back here, though there could be other reasons. In language I think you'll understand, he has a very weak energetic field and he can only access my energetic field when I'm in the hypnogogic zone in between being awake and going into dream sleep - beta waves cut out, alpha waves continue and theta (dream sleep) waves come in. So virtually ever night just as I'm on the verge of sleep he snaps me awake with all kinds of weird noises, from high pitched to deep bass and from low to loud volumes. Up to the end of last year I think it was 45 blogs I wrote on the subject. I've not written one this year as I'm so fed up with it! But as the spook can keep me awake anything from 30 minutes to 3 hours it's impossible to make set plans for any following day. Oddly, I now live for the moment more than any previous time in my life, and thus, "What is, is; what ain't, ain't. What's gonna happen will happen; what won't, wont", etc. What's been made abundantly clear is that it's all prarabdha karma and absolutely choiceless.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #58: Bring consciousness to it. #63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hi Beth Wow, what a beautifully calming and reassuring piece! From the moment the fingerpicked guitar and gentle piano chords emerge, a sense of peace washes over you. The instrumentation choices – especially the dulcimer and harp – are inspired, adding a touch of ethereal beauty that perfectly complements the song's message. The subtle hip hop loop adds a really unique and grounding element.
The lyrics are a simple yet powerful mantra, and the repetition is incredibly effective in instilling a sense of hope and acceptance. Your voice is warm and sincere, which makes the message all the more believable and comforting. It truly feels like a sonic balm for the soul.
It's clear this song was born from a place of genuine self-soothing, and that authenticity shines through. It's the kind of song you can put on repeat when you need a reminder to breathe and trust the process. "Things Are Working Out" is a wonderfully crafted and deeply resonant piece – thank you for sharing this gift of tranquility! regards
Izzy

Gosh, Chay. Have you tried smudging the place or doing some kind of cleanse? A good shang can send that little trouble-maker on his way.
