You have a chord progression and melody, but how to write lyrics, when you ain't got something to say? I had to make a song about it.
I sing and play guitars, banjos (plectrum and tenor) and mandolin.
I produced this at my home with Band in a Box and Reaper.

TRANSLATION INTO ENGLISH:
Something To Sing
Esa Blomberg 2017

I ain't got neither something to say,
nor I have tales to tell.
But when I feel like singing,
I must have something to sing.

I don't have a doctrine to declare.
I don't know how to cure the world.
But when I feel like singing,
I must have something to sing.

I don't know neither how to chant about love,
nor how to glow about great happiness.
But when I feel like singing,
I must have something to sing.

I don't really know how to write poems.
That's why I just play with words.
Because when I feel like singing,
I must have something to sing.

So I ain't got something to say.
So I could just stay silent.
But when I feel like singing,
I must have something to sing.

Write a song about it. If you don't have anything to say, say something about it. If you don't have any inspiration, write a song about the lack of inspiration.

That is what I did and so did you. Good job. You can always write about something even if it's nothing.

Ha, Arri. You sure got wordy without anything to say. Man, this is all quite clever. I particularly love all your playing; it really personalizes your songs so well. Cool idea with the horn section, too.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Arri!
I love this - couldn’t stop moving my feet. It has a feel like the song by Joe Dassin - Les Champs Elysees. Sounds good when the brass come in, and how the brass and organ conclude it.

Ari, I wish I could have nothing to say and to say it so majestically as you did!
Super chord progression, instrumentation and mix
Sounds great!

A real toe-tapper, Arri. Like your playful musical themes and how they mesh with your whimsical lyrics. Cool ending, too. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Cool theme and fine performances by you.
Good mix too. You and the BiaB session guys sound like a well honed live band.

You often vocally remind us of sea chanties which we like.
And in this song you used the word chant. smile

Enjoyed it!

Excellent stuff, Arri/Brno. Always great to hear the music of other cultures on the forum.

Wow, some disparate elements here but you made it all work. Nice job.

I didn't quite understand, what you mean with "disparate elements", but it's good to hear I made it work. I tried to make it sound like a song from some musical or a song for children.
